it wouldn't be a good thing to do.. however when you think about it botox is being used for many conditions now ranging from antiaging, to heart patients, and stroke.... I wouldn't just put some in a neb and go at it.. however it is something that needs to be looked into....

there are some meds which i have nebulized that have really had a positive effect for asthma

always give a bronchodialator first! giving xopenex instead of albuterol for refractory asthma in the er has showed it has a better outcome. less hospital admissions with this also...
my combo has always been a 15mg dose of xopenex, with 16 ml of saline, and 12mg decadron in a continous neb...

for the severe coughing effect that the patient is getting no releif from i have gave 3cc of 2% lidocaine, and 3cc of saline. this helps them for about 4-6 hours at a time..... however they cannot eat or drink anything for 1 hour..
if you think about it botox nebulized would have the same effect as far as risk of aspirating food.. due to the musle relaxation effect it has, there would have to be a way to alter the drug.. or the patient cannot eat or drink anything when they are on this treatment.

morphine really helps nebulized, however it is reserved for the lung cancer patients.. it jsut numbs the lungs and keeps them from feeling short of breath...

i like the thought of botox.. however there should be serious studies done on it.... there is a huge risk of aspirating

by the way the other therapist who have answered prob have had no expereince using other drugs in a nebulizer than the fda approved things like albuterol, and xopenex...
i worked for a teaching hospital where there isn't much we didn't try in a neb

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

No it would make your airway become inflamed and it could cause plugging in your lungs which would be extremely unhealthy if it plugged your airway then you could have to have a breathing tube stuck down your throat to breathe for you. Would not be a good idea to try it. if you have any other questions send me a message.
