If you have corn and potatoes, too, 3 lbs. of headless shrimp (let them peel their ownafter boiling) ought to do it. That's about ½ lb. per person.

If you are doing just boiled shrimp (peel n eat) I would say for a hearty eater 1/2 lb, for a light eater 1/4 lb.

If you are adding additional sides, like potatoes, salad, etc, then make it 1/4 lb per person

With boiled new potatoes, boiled corn, and french bread (typical southern shrimp boil menu, and and of course beer), no less than 1 pound (in shell) per person. If it is a prissy cocktail party where it is a "horses ovary" maybe a dozen each.

Normally you want to calculate 1/2 pound per meat per person for a standard dinner with 2-3 sides so that would be three pounds for 6 people. Think about who will be eating too--if there are children cut back, if large people with hearty appetites, add sone. Bon appetit!

If this is a 'main course', allow 12 to 20 (medium sized) per person. If it is an apetizer or shrimp cocktail, allow 6 per person of medium sized shrimp.....hope this helps.

Depends on how much else you are serving.

A general rule of thumb when planning a meal around most meats is a quarter pound per person.
