I had open heart surgery 18 mos ago and still have tightness around the incision and the chest plate feels heavy. I was wondering if others have experienced this and other effects. I can't seem to find out info on recovery past the year mark.

I had open heart 1 year ago. The incision is fine, but itchy once in a while. I still have pain in my ribs when I sneeze or cough or even yawn sometimes, though. It's a major surgery and there are bound to be lasting effects. I am not a surgeon or cardioligist, so I would suggest that you call your Doctor and ask for a follow up visit. Write down any questions you may have before hand so you don't forget anything. It will ease your mind. Hope I've helped.
