There are three major arteries in the heart and if all three have significant blockage bypass surgery is often the best recourse. However, optimal management depends on several factors such as heart muscle or left ventricle function, age of the patient, severity of the symptoms, kidney function, mental function etc.

Sometimes surgeons use the term quadruple bypass when the three major arteries are bypassed as well as a branch of a major artery such as the diagonal branch of the left anterior descending artery. With improvement in medical therapies the incremental benefits of surgery have been reduced but by and large if the left anterior descending artery is severely blocked either stenting or surgery may be reasonable option.

Only doctors can assess and decide on what to do with her case. As far as I know, as my mother also has heart problem, we only have 3 major arteries. So better seek professional help as soon as possible and take all precautionary measures specially with her food intake. Of course, avoid fatty foods that are high in bad cholesterol. My mother was advised by the doctor to undergo coronary bypass as it seems that all 3 arteries are blocked already but we declined the suggestion. She's taking herbal medicines as of now aside from the prescribed medicines. You may also find herbal medicines as an alternative, many patients who were supposed to undergo same procedure have gained their health back because of herbal medicines. Afterall, these are natural-no harmful side effects.

Attempting to open a totally blocked carotid artery is too dangerous. There would be an unacceptably high risk of stroke. Having it remain closed doesn't increase the risk of stroke. We have numerous patients that live long and healthy lives with a blocked carotid. The important thing is to follow up at least annually with a vascular surgeon to make sure that the other side stays open.

depending on which arteries are blocked it could be that the need surgery. If it is the anterior descending artery I'd be scared it's the most important artery of the heart it feed the most nourishment to the heart and a by-pass or shunt should be used

arteries blockage is highly dangerous It may give problem anytime ,
Offcourse finding whether the artries are blocked is quite expensive , angioplast takes a huge amount of money .
If the artries are completely blocked then ask the person to completely take only watery foods , not oil , not spicy food . he/she has to take plenty of hot water or cold water.\
And daily excerise is also good.Oats is good.

If this is an elderly person and she is without any complexities, better that she start to walk around more, eat less of fats and more of partially cooked vegetables and sit calm in the open spaces for longer durations. Apart from that she will need to take her usual medicines. Thats all. Ask her to begin living anew with no frills nd fancy. She can live longer with no surgery as it is too critical at such apoint to undergo anythign like that.

My mother-in-law also had this. She went through triple by-pass heart surgery afew months ago. I believe there are 4 main arteries in the heart because someone also had a quadruple by-pass while my mother-in-law was in hospital.

Bascilly it looks like a case of heart surgery for her, but I'm no doctor. You can try cutting on fatty food but it maybe a case of to little too late. But if shes very old why should she not enjoy her life eating what she wants.

(You could try getting her to take this health drink, chorostol (sp)lowering etc etc
