If you eat too much salt it will accumulate in your vessels...water is drawn to salt so you will retain salt, which will increase the pressure on your vessel walls aka hypertension aka high blood pressure...this can cause a whole host of other problems that you don't want to have to deal with..........
Salt or sodium helps to maintain nerve conduction..when you have too much you can run into problems like thirst, fatigue, relstlessness and eventually hypotension which is low blood pressure..this can also be bad for the kidneys...but usually the body knows how to regulate it in the everyday foor we eat....the only way this is really going to happen is if you ingest LARGE amounts of salt like if you nearly drowned in salt water or something...I don't really think you have THAT much to worry about...also...just try not to salt your food as much..you should be fine

Excess salt CAN cause hypertension as well as fluid retention. A normal diet should include about 2000mg of salt. Check the salt content in food too. Most foods use salt to preserve the food. Salt is also hidden in labels as monosodiumglutomate. Any thing with sodium is salt.

You need to consume salt to maintain good health but too much can cause your body to hold water and you get swollen feet, ankles, and legs.

high salt content does not cause hypertension, but if you have hypertension to much salt may not be recommended. If someone tells you salt causes hypertension they are misleading you.
