i was diagnosed with MVP in 1978 when i started having chest pain and palpitations. stress brought on my symptoms. i took inderal for several years until i planned my first pregnancy. stopped it then and have occasional palps and CP but usually no biggie. my doc told me in 78 that "with your triglyceride levels you'll live to be 108 unless you walk in front of a truck" little did he know... anyway, you should probably wear a Holter (not halter) monitor fro 24 hrs to help determine what's going on. are you on inderal or any Beta-blocker. that can help symptoms like yours. if you have CP that last > 30 mins, you should always go to the ER or call 911. better to be safe... try to de-stress your life as much as possible, avoid caffeine, maybe see a cardiologist if you haven't (not sure what type dr you called) for further evaluation. but the Holter monitor is a good idea.

I was diagnosed with MVP at 18 when I started fainting during hard exercise at school. I used to get severe palpitations but I took Inderal for a few years which helped, and I've found I don't need any medications if I avoid too much caffiene and keep my blood pressure at a normal level. There really isn't much to worry about, a large percentage of the population has MVP, and go through life just accepting that the fluttering heart and occasional heart attack like pain are part of life and that we keep on ticking regardless.

I'm having the same problems and it's drive me crazy too.I have seen my doctor today and one good thing he said this is not life threatening. But this is not enough for me, because I feel not good. I will see cardiologist next week, so I'm going to find out something more By.
