My mom has emphysema. She was doing pulmonary rehab which helped her tremendously. Unfortunately, she hated it and quit going.

Pulmonary rehab can help if you stick with it. Why do you want a drug free treatment? Most of the medications to treat COPD are pretty innocuous-maybe no one has told you this. The one side effect(tremor) with bronchodilators is fleeting and harmless. Inhaled steroids avoid the hazards of oral steroids. If your disease is advanced to the stage of needing oral steroids you're kind of between a rock and a hard place. Sorry I can't offer a true answer-maybe the info will help. Good luck.

There is a procedure call Lung Volume Reduction. It can be done surgically or there is a device that can be inserted via bronchoscopy. It's a valve that closes off ineffective areas of the lung but allows for mucus drainage. The valve can also be removed if complications arise.
