Once, shortly after I began dating someone, I invited her to my place, and I cooked Lobster Newburg for dinner. I was kind of expensive (and a little difficult) to prepare, but it came out great. She must have been impressed, because we ended up spending the night together (in my roommate's bed, actually...he was out of town, and his bed was bigger than mine).

That was maybe 20 years ago. She and I aren't together anymore. And now, I'm a chef, and cooking is a bit easier. But I still prepare Lobster Newburg if I wanna get lucky :)

I guess any meal or food can be romantic for as long as it's shared with somebody special to you. I guess it's being with the right person at the right time that adds that special "zing" to anything be it french fries or chocolate.

My fiance and I lived about 5 mins from my parents house and every weekend we would go to my parents and my parents would make dinner for us. In October my fiances mother became very ill with Pancreatic cancer so my fiance and I ended up moving in with his parents to take care of her, and because I am a nurse I would be able to help her with whatever she needed. We ended up moving 7 hours away from my family and I was very upset. I became very homesick and missed the weekends at their house. One day my fiance totally surprised me. What he did was so sweet and romantic. He called my parents one night and asked them for recipes for my favourite meals that they would make. He ended up cooking me a dinner with all the foods my parents would cook for me. He lit the table with candles, and we ate my favourite meals. The best thing about that night was that my fiances mother used to do all the cooking so my fiance never really knew how to cook. he went to so much trouble to do that for me. It was the sweetest and most romantic dinner ever. He made me feel at home again.

So thats my story.

Oh and sadly, my mother in law did pass away this February, for anyone that wanted to know.

Fruit salad made with passion fruit, star fruit, mango, strawberry, blue berry, and kiwi. It's delightful with some super sweet yogurt mixed in with it.
