We haven't had sex in a few months because I've been in New York. He told me after he got diagnosed so I went to get tested and my doctor says I don't have a trace of his STD. Is it possible they can develop by other means or is he a cheating bastard?

You don't say which particular STD he has. Some can lay dormant (Herpes for example) for years. So, it is possible he had this STD (and didn't know it) before the two of you even got together. That being the case, that would seem to let him off the hook for having cheated on you. However, if you are able to determine he contracted the STD AFTER the two of you were together, then that is a whole different matter. Does he work in the medical field where he could have possibly been exposed? If not, and he contracted the STD AFTER the two of you were together, then I would say in all likelihood he got it from some form of intimate contact. In other words, THE BASTARD CHEATED ON YOU! In that case, if I were you I would do two things: 1). Get yourself re-checked in a couple of weeks, just to make sure, 2). Dump that chump! At any rate, consider yourself lucky - he could have given you AIDS.

Developed by other means? Don't be blind.
They could have been dormant and this may be the first outbreak. He could have had the STD for a long time. If you were you, I would go and be re-tested to make sure he hasn't given you anything.
Sadly, it isn't uncommon for guys to cheat and get thie momento from their skank and give it to you. Be careful, because if he did cheat, he didn't pick the right kind of person to be with, OR he didn't even know the person well enough to know they STD's and she was the type not to tell him.
Research the story of the Black Widow in Las Vegas. Very sad story.

IF the STD happens to be herpes, he may have had it for a long time and didn't know he had it. Any other type of STD, I'd dump his butt and don't look back. However, be aware that STD's are rampant in today's society. Too many people are having sex freely.

The next time you're in a relationship that you feel is deserving of sex, be sure to discuss the fact that both of you need to go have STD screenings done before you have sex with each other. At the same time, make certain that you're tested for HIV as well.

As a few people have said, men (and women sometimes) can have an STD for a long time without knowing it. I know this from personal experience. I would think that if it was something like chlamydia, he would know right away, but herpes can go undetected for a long time. I've heard that HIV won't show symptoms for up to 6 years or so. Depending on what he has, and how much you love and trust him, you might give him the benefit of the doubt. Then again, if you have any doubts- go with your gut and move on. Both men and women will cheat, and I think you have already made up your mind on this one.

You need to go to the doctor and make him go with you. You need a proper health care professional to sit down with both of you and discuss the time line and incubation time of the particual STD that is in question. Some can take a LOT longer to show up than others. If you are in a loving and trusting relationship, you need to find the facts. Give him props for telling you in the first place. Tell him you need him to be honest with you about his sexual relations. He put you at risk!

Okay, before you rip his head off (either one); depending on WHAT the STD is, he may have had it for years and never knew. Men tend to not have quite as many symptoms as women. Also, if you were treated with antibiotics for something else; sore throat, dental work, etc.., your infection would have cleared up.. So, don't jump the gun... Get more info. But, if you're simply not sure about this relationship, dump him.. this is as good an excuse as any!

I'm going to tell you what you already know ...

STDs are called that for a reason. There's only one way to catch them as an adult, and that is through sexual congress with a person who is infected.

He's cheated on you, and was not particularly choosy about his partner.
