Not sure if any cultures really consider them a delicacy, but there are cultures that consider them typical, normal food, common like hamburger is here.

China consumes the most dogmeat, and I read that there are over 6000 restaurants in Korea that have dog meat on the menu. Basically, it seems, the European/western cultures are the non-eaters of dog meat. Go here for names of countries who's cultures eat dog meat as a regular part of their diets:

I was born in Hawaii, and some of the people living there ate dog. They would basically give the dog nothing but water for a few days, then feed it spices, to make the meat taste better. One of them told my mother that they only eat the light-colored dogs because the darker ones have evil spirits that make them dark. But another person told my mother that the real reason was that the meat from dark-colored dogs was stringy.

Asia. China, Korea, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, the Phillipines, Burma, Maylasia.

Dogs there do not have the same characteristics as Fido and Bowser do in the Western world. Mostly they are similar to wolves. So it isn't like you are eating Spot for dinner.

they eat it in china, but it's all the time. i did a report on it in seventh grade.they have to shave the dog first. i passed around pictures of them in cages, shaved, and strapped to the back of bikes. they were so sad, and they just knew. everyone cried because they couldn't believe someone would do such a thing. why do you ask this question? do you want to eat a puppy?
