Do you have to shack up the bottle?

DON'T SHAKE THE BOTTLE! You're going to make a big enough mess already! Just drop a few Mentos at a time into the top of an open bottle, the gum on the outside of the Mentos apparently is responsiblr for the ensuing gusher!
I cannot stress how critical it is that you do this in the yard, or someone's going to be really mad! And don't wear a shirt you really like!

Just saw it on the news this morning, they do not shake it up at all. They just drop 13 mentos into a 2 liter bottle of coke and it blows!!

june 15 - I just watched a segment on Canada AM and no, Jeff did not shake the bottle but he put in a whole roll of mentos.

Better yet, drink up the coke & eat the mentos in a rush. Then jump like a mad man!! It'll be a mess!!! j/k LOL

Don't you mean "shake"? I heard something about this, but I didn't read into it enough to know exactly how to set the fountain off.
