Because of the vocal minority vegans that pass judgement on carnivores or act superior because they don't eat meat.

Hate is a strong word. I think that the whole vegetarian/vegan "thing" is all lumped together and people are not interested in learning more about it. As a result there is just a lot of confusion about it. For those who wish to educate themselves...
There is this thing called the "Internet" where people can go on "search engines" and find out about all sorts of new and exciting things! What will they think of next!

It is not so much hating as infuriating. Mainly because many people do not understand the diet needs of a vegan and hence get confused and frustrated as they see vegans as being very fussy eaters.
If you come across, just explain to them your diet needs and tell them you will handle your own food, this should help most.
p.s. they do not see how people can avoid eating meat, just cannot understand this simple fact.

I believe in eating food that was not got by killing an animal. I do not like the smell of meat and especially fish.
Why do non-vegetarians have to attack a vegetarian, just because they are not vegetarians? Why the abuse? Vegetarians are not asking you to stop eating your meat...they don't eat meat.
Vegetarians are vegetarians for many reasons -- animal rights, health reasons etc.
Avoiding meat may sound like a bad idea, but most dietary and medical experts agree that a well-planned vegetarian diet can actually be a very healthy way to eat.

I believe the main descrepency with Vegans is their vocal beliefs that they are superior to those of us who are not Vegan. If you are Vegan and keep it to yourself, thats fine. I can even handle a disccussion about what your meals are like, how you aviod meat and animal based products, etc. But its those that try to talk down to meat eaters as if they are horrible people for their eating habits. I understand that there are some gruesome things going on within the food industry, but I do not need to be yelled at becuase of them. I also believe that organizations such as PETA give Vegans a bad name, with their cutthroat advertizing and condesending attitudes.

I dont know why vegans and vegetarians are the target for silly, misinformed people who have nothing better to do.
Why meat eaters even come to this category is beyond me.
