At best, it's an unhealthy diet. At worst, it can kill you.

I am a vegetarian because of my religion and because I believe in vegetarianism. I have been a vegetarian all my life. I have done without meat all my life and never missed it. I do drink milk, but don't eat tuna, chicken or eggs. I am a lacto-vegetarian. I believe in eating food that was not got by killing an animal. I do not like the smell of meat and especially fish.
Why do non-vegetarians have to attack a vegetarian, just because they are not vegetarians? Why the abuse? Vegetarians are not asking you to stop eating your meat...they don't eat meat.
Vegetarians are vegetarians for many reasons -- animal rights, health reasons etc.
Avoiding meat may sound like a bad idea, but most dietary and medical experts agree that a well-planned vegetarian diet can actually be a very healthy way to eat.
Most people think vegetarians eat tuna, chiken and eggs. That is not true. There are different types of vegetarians:
* ovo-vegetarian - eats eggs; no meat
* lacto-ovo vegetarian - eats dairy and egg products; no meat
* lacto-vegetarian - eats dairy products; no eggs or meat
* vegan - eats only food from plant sources
The choice to be a vegetarian is personal. If you have a solid reason to be a vegetarian, go ahead. But, if you have a love for meat, you won't last long as a vegetarian. I don't miss meat or other non-vegetarian stuff, because never had it and never want to.
The long-term health benefits of a vegetarian diet when compared with a non-vegetarian diet are lower prevalence of hypertension (one-third to one-half lower), reduced cholesterol levels, lower rates of cancer (25 to 50% lower), and lower prevalent of obesity, among other benefits.
One study of developmental tests in vegetarian children showed that their mental age was more than a year beyond their chronological age, and their mean IQ scores were well above average.
No matter what others think, I would never want to eat meat, fish, chicken or eggs. I love being a vegetarian.

I'm a meatatarian and my wife is a vegetarian. Since we've been married we have met each other in the middle somewhat. I don't feel being a vegetarian is a bad thing, it's just a personal choice. However, there are vitamins which you're missing by not eating meat, but that can be supplemented through pills.

Here's my opinion: I am not a vegetarian, but I have to admit that a vegetarian meal is very healthy and nutritious. I do eat a 'meatless' meal once in a while, and it does taste good, too. But one thing I have noticed when I don't eat meat, is that I don't have nearly the same kind of energy that I do when I have some meat in my meal. Even vegetarians need to have some meat proteins in their diets as well as all the vegetable proteins.

I think it's awesome, healthy, and it takes a lot of willpower. I wish I could do it. I think it's so hard to just change though, but I know people who have, and they've done it! It must be hard when u go out places sometimes, I think they should have more on menus for vegetarians. As long as u find protein, ur great! You'll have a lot more energy then I do, fruits and veggies r the best way to go, I don't get enough!

I am a vegetarian too. I was brought up in a vegetarian household and now that I am older I can't bring myself to try non-vegetarian food. I can't even make an omlet for my boyfriend because I get sick.

I have no idea what 'to flame' means. Being a vegetarian is great. I am one and I went through my pregnancy as one. My son started life as one and he is healthy because of it. I think we are more conscious about proper nutrition and portion amounts. I think we care about what we put into our bodies because of that. Continue to studey and stay strong. People say I look really good-great skin and lots of energy all the time!

A veteran USDA meat inspector from Texas describes what he has seen: "Cattle dragged and choked... knocking 'em four, five, ten times. Every now and then when they're stunned they come back to life, and they're up there agonizing. They're supposed to be re-stunned but sometimes they aren't and they'll go through the skinning process alive. I've worked in four large slaughterhouses and a bunch of small ones. They're all the same." However scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity.
