I recently tested positive for herpes. My doctor told me that from the looks of my lesion that I could have contracted herpes about a month ago. I've been with my boyfriend for a couple of months and we have been having unprotected sex so I know I've contracted herpes from him. I recently told him and we both decided to stay together through this but he is worried about the sex. He doesn't like the way condoms feel and is really worried that he won't enjoy sex with a condom. My doctor recently prescribed Valtrex for my condition and I have told him to get checked up so that he can start taking medicine also. So my question is since we both have herpes can we still have unprotected sex?

Since you both have herpes, it's perfectly fine to have unprotected sex. It's not like you are going to reinfect each other or pass it back and forth to each other. Once you have it, you will always have it. It is a virus and will stay with you the rest of your life. If one of you are on a breakout though, I would suggest you not have sex, because it could cause the other one to breakout also.
There are a few medications that can suppress herpes. They can be taken daily or just when you are having an outbreak or "feel" an outbreak coming on. I personally only take medicine when I am having an outbreak. Valtrex makes me sick to my stomach and makes me dizzy. The more years you have had herpes the less outbreaks you will have too. I have had herpes for about 5 years now, and I get one outbreak a year if that. I've been outbreak free for about a year and a half now, and that's without taking the medicine.
I hope this answered your question! Good luck!

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.
Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

Yes- but be honest with each other when either of you feel an outbreak coming on. Be careful of oral sex, because you can pass on the virus more easily for a while right after an outbreak due to "viral shedding" while the skin is healing. Good luck to you both, and realize that there is a good chance your boyfriend didn't know he had it before he gave it to you. It happened to me 14 years ago, and it killed me to have hurt a girl I cared so much for. Use of condoms combined with the pill are very effective at preventing pregnancy, and some people need Valtrex more than others. It has helped me.

If you both have genital herpes then yes you can have unprotected sex..please understand that you both must be faithful to each other if you are going to have unprotected sex..there are actual groups that you can join that talk about being Herpes carriers..I have good friends who where like you and your boyfriend..they married..and they remained faithful before and after their marriage..it's tough..if you or your boyfriend down the road decide that you can't be together please be honest with your next relationship...let them know you have Herpes..

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

I was tested positive for herpes approximately six years back, when I was in college and had a stupid one-night stand. I suppose many of girls will say this but I swear I never did that sort of thing. I jud made a mistake that one time and, suddenly, it seemed like I was going to have to live with the problem for the rest of my life. The worst part was thinking I would never date guys again. After all, who wants to date a woman who has blisters around her you-know-what? But after a good friend showed me this video https://tr.im/HerpesCuresBjv everything has changed. Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than fifteen days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so happy to say that just last week, in front of many people in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program gave me back the chance to be happy, and to experience true love.
