steel wool, or a grill brush - very thick metal bristles. Turn the grill on high and scrub like hell. If you do manage to get all of the rust off, make sure to season the grill more often - liberally oil the racks before using and clean really well after wards - not to mention dry well when cooled of course.

Scrape it with tin foil, them SOS or steel wool or wire brush. If in a hurry and have some pool acid soak it in the HCl, or you can use a battery charger (grill on - side) in water with a little salt(electrolysis). Any 2 of these will work.If they don't throw the grill away.....

Steel wool and plenty of elbow grease.

You could use an electric drill with a wire brush attachment. But it will take a lot of time. Just be sure to season it when you're done or it's going to get rusty all over again.

You can use Coke or cola products, the acid and carbonation help take off the rust.
