here in chicago i just go to my local meat/fish market and ask for a case of fish (it's the case that the store gets thats packed in ice before they take them out for display)...i can't tell u how much they are because i haven't bought that large of an amount in years, but i do know they usually cut u a deal because it's in bulk. and they will then cut it up how u want and repack in ice.

Ask a local restaurant who serves catfish to let you order some through them. A chain type wouldn't go for this usually, but you'd be surprised at how helpful a mom and pop place might be!

At any rate, make sure you go for catfish NUGGETS, not filets. We had fresh filets at our Father's Day catfish dinner and it wasn't as cripsy as when you use nuggets. The filets are too thick and fleshy. The flavor of catfish is not good enough to rely on...what people like is the crunchy exterior. And nuggets are a lot cheaper than filets anyway.

Happy Frying! :)

Try contacting Freshwater Farms in Belzoni, MS. They would be able to tell you of a dealer they ship to in your area. Be sure to go with the true Mississippi Farm Raised catfish fillets. They are the best!
