I don't really understand your question so I hope I am answering it correctly.
Herpes is a virus and right now there is no cure. It will stay with you the rest of your life. The medicine you can take for it only suppresses the virus; it does not get rid of it. Valtrex (and other herpes medication) can be taken every day or just when you are having an outbreak or "feel" an outbreak coming.
I have genital herpes and I personally do not take the medication every day. I only take it when I am having an outbreak. It makes me dizzy and sick to my stomach, not to mention the cost of it for the rest of your life! You don't NEED to take the medication, although it does help some people. The more years you have herpes the less outbreaks you typically have. I have had herpes for about 5 years now, and I have an outbreak about once a year if that! The last outbreak I had was about a year and a half ago and that's without taking medication!
If you are taking medication and it doesn't seem to be helping or it takes forever to make an outbreak go away talk to your doctor. The first few months I had herpes I was actually on two different oral medications because my outbreaks were so bad.
I hope this answered your question! Good luck!

I got diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 4 yrs ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I realize loads of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/7HmPg everything changed.
Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This system gave me back the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I want to help others by sharing this story.

I'll probly take 57 various pills, hide my insecurities under a studded White jump suit, and sing. May he RIP. My only song I bother with is "Are you lonesome tonight" I've been to Graceland and sorry but he wasn't a God and the oppulence isn't Heaven. Beyond that the Elvis machine has made more money since his death than he ever saw in his entire life. Oh this was in no way meant to be offensive to Elvis fans. I did however, not so long ago, celebrate the life of Bob marley who died 30 years ago this year.

If you have herpes, you have it for life. Valtrex only reduces the viral load but does not eliminate the virus. Therefore you have to take it the rest of your life if you want to continue to supress the virus. As long as you don't develop one of the serious side effects, which are rare, it is safe to take lifelong.
