There are so many great answers here already that I am not sure my answer will be any different. However, I do believe that the way you approach you Mom is the key. Stay calm, don't get excited if she does. Be firm and confident about your choice. Make sure you are educated on the pros and possible cons. At the end, like everyone here is saying, it is your body and therefore your choice. Who knows, maybe Mom will convert as well and you all be healthier in the end. And just one more thing. Do you know what does FEAR stand for? False Events Appearing Real... your Mom will surprise you with the way she handles the news. Don't make this bigger than it really is. It is not a big deal! You don't need meat protein to build your muscle. You'll get it from beans and tofu, because it is not the meat that builds the muscle... it is the protein within it. Good luck and stay healthy!

It sounds like you're a teen and in high school. Your mom probably has a lot of concerns about your eating habits , such as- are you getting a balanced and healthy diet? What does your vegetarianism mean to her and the rest of the family? Is she going to have to cook all different foods for you?
I'm also getting a feeling from your question that you may have issues with your weight which may not be realistic. Be really careful that not wanting to eat poultry isn't just a way to eliminate food all together.
Go to the library and get some books about being vegetarian and about veggie cooking so you'll have some info for your mom. Offer to help with the cooking.
Also, if I were your mom I'd want you to see a Dr, just to make sure that you're on a healthy path.
Good Luck.

Being a vegetarian, it is unquestionably truly nice besides the undeniable fact that folk do tease you with meat. -.- in any case, while i became born my mom and dad have been the two vegetarians yet now are actually not. They do consume an identical nutrients as my brother and that i yet they each and every so often basically have a meat section to pass alongside. We consume a lot of tofu which could be eaten uncooked or cooked. In techniques of telling your mom, basically pass as much as her and say "mom, i comprehend you comprehend i decide for to be a pescotarian, yet i've got given it some concept and that i think of i might decide for to grow to be an entire vegetarian." propose which you would be able to help with meal making plans and cooking so she would not could desire to cook dinner an entire separate meal for you. propose which you consume an identical meal because of the fact something of the kinfolk, yet have a various protein different than meat i.e. tofu, beans etc. God bless, you're beautiful

Tell her just how you told us, but sweetie make sure you are doing it for a healthier you and not to loose weight, changing eating habits drastically can alter the way your body metabolizes things and may not initially render the results your looking for.
But if your going veggie for the purposes of truly believe it is healthier for you then you do what you do..... wither mom likes it or not, that is a grown up decision to make which is solely yours. Make sure you think about supplementing the vitamins you would be missing from the meat so your body doesn't loose any nutrients it is use to getting.

You are showing earlier signs of an eating disorder. Tell you mother to get you help now a spare yourself and your family years of suffering and anguish.
<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
No one thinks they have a problem at the beginning of it. It's a slippery slope. Usually, by the time the person with the problem realizes it, they're in deep. Sometimes you need an objective outside voice to fill you in. Trust me-- judging from several things you said-- you're definitely in a HIGH risk category. Stop justifying and assume I'm onto something. If I'm wrong, you've lost nothing-- if you're wrong-- you could lose everything.

It shouldn't be that big of a deal. Just tell her and she should accept that. But make sure you eat lots of veggies to make up for the protein you'll lose without meant. Plus going vegitarian doesn't neccessarily mean you'll lose weight or gain muscle. Actually muscle is gained when you do eat meat. But it's your choice! Good luck! :)

The scientific explanation always works with parents, there are many medical proves that eatin vegetarian corresponds to stay healthy and prevent many deseases, also cancer. But it has to be a balanced diet according to proteins that you must get from other fonts.
Also it's a choice of life, and you'll have to find the way to show your mom that you are responsable and you know what you are doing.

You don't mention who cooks in your home, but in addition to the other concerns mentioned in the other answers, your mom may be concerned about shopping and cooking for a "picky eater" or that you won't be around for family meals if meat is served. Talk with her about helping her grocery shop, plan, and cook meals that you and the rest of your family can eat.

I am concerned that you are headed for anorexia. You are overly concerned about your weight. If you want a special diet, learn to cook. My rule is you eat what I serve. If you don't like it, prepare your own food.

tell her not to worry that there are other means and methods that you can get your protein through and show her that it is a healthier lifestyle and trust me you can prve it because well, it just is healthier and I can't prove it because I don't want to because I crave meat like a crack adddict craves crack, I love my juicy bloody steaks, anyways you'll be alright, just tell her and be honest with her, it's your life your body your choice, unless you still live under their house and rules but you just have to let them see the light
