First of all there are different strains of hpv. human papilloma virus.one strain causes warts and another causes cervical cancer.Anal cancer is a rare. Cancer of the penis is extremely rare. it is not aids. .It is a virus you can have it for years and not even have symptoms. the virus stays with u forever. there is no medication yet to clear the virus but it is only life threading if you got the kind that causes cervical cancer and screening every year keeps that under control. if you have a healthy system and don't smoke the virus will go dormant will basically go to sleep . it was the most un known std around til everyone started getting it now they have comercials about it. go figure. it takes everyone getting something for it to be in the public. my doctor never even told me about hpv she educated me on every std but that. i read on line that 80% has hpv. You can even catch hpv with a condom if they have a wart in there hair area u can get it. its skin to skin contact. They are and have been working on a vaccine for hpv but it is only for young adults that do not have it is not that great because some of the women they gave the shot to still got the virus anyway. it is turning out to be as wide spread as aids is anymore. the numbers of people that have it is totaly amazing and there are people that have it with no sympthums and are spreding it without even knowing. i can give u hard facts from the medical field but personal experience is the best i have hpv and it can be bad at times. but when u don't have symptoms you can forget about having it. you have to be so careful if u are with new partners.it is very contagious threw skin contact.

How they remove the genital warts they can lazer them off they have creams but the most common way is they use acid to remove them and it is very painfull. all the treatments cause some pain but the acid is the most painfull and the most common done right in the doctors office. they give u no pain medacation they just get down to business and send you on ur way. I wish there was some aintbiodic or something like that but this is what we get for the pleasure of sex. it is a high price to pay.
my husband told me that it did not even hurt that much when he went in to get his removed but it sends me threw the roof.

The emotional stress that it causes is outragous i thought at first that my b/f now my husband was cheating on me so i delt with that then i went threw maybe i gave this to him what happend how the heck did i get this. besides feeling so dirty and sick it takes a toll on ur emotions. i was at my braking point before i had to go talk to someone. i thought i could never be with anyone ever again without giving them the virus. but i had to reaslize that a lot and were talking the majority of people in the world out there will get this virus and it is not the end of the world.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a sexually transmitted disease. In fact, it is the number one sexually transmitted disease. About 75% - 80% of the world has HPV.

There really are no signs or symptoms and that is why it is spread so easily from person to person. Currently there is no test for men, but woman usually find out they have HPV by having a pap smear come back abnormal.

There are at least 30 different kinds of HPV (I've read even up to 100) and for the most part most don't do anything. There are some kinds though that can cause cervical cancer, genital warts, and even rectal cancer. Cervical cancer kills 300,000 woman a year! That is why it is so important for woman to have their yearly pap smears done.

I have had both genital warts and cervical cancer. Both have been treated and luckily have not come back. HPV can be very serious, but if you are getting your yearly pap done and are keeping aware of any changes to your body you should be okay.

HPV is not AIDS.

Hope this answered your question.

HPV can cause a variety of symptoms, most commonly genital warts and abnormal cells on the cervix that can lead, if left untreated, to cervical cancer. HPV also causes cellular changes that can lead to vaginal, vulvar, anal, and less commonly penile and oral cancers. (For a complete list of symptoms and cancers caused by HPV visit this page from the American Social Health Association, and this page by the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.) “HPV for Dummies” deals only with the most common issues, such as genital warts and cervical dysplasia. If you are a cancer sufferer you may wish to visit the National Cancer Institute’s pages on cervical cancer and on HPV, or the National Cervical Cancer public education campaign.

Do not let HPV control your life. True, you have a virus that is sexually transmitted. True, dating will become somewhat harder after your diagnosis. But this is not the end of the world! An increasing number of studies show that HPV is only temporarily contagious - indeed, the virus may not even stay in the body for life and may become dormant within a few short years. This is not forever! Even when the virus is active, it will not have serious effects unless left untreated. I do not mean, in any way, to undermine the cancer patients out there whose cancer is caused by HPV: it is true, some people get cancer. But the vast majority of HPV clears up and does not progress that far. The power HPV has over you does not lie in its physical manifestation, but in the emotional response it invokes from you. HPV is an emotional virus.

HPV is human papilloma virus. A family of over 60 viruses responsible for causing warts. The majority of human papillom viruses produce warts on the hands, fingers or face. Most are innocuous, causing nothing more than cometic concerns. Several types of HPV are confined primarily to the moist skin of the genitals, producing genital warts and elevating the risk for cancer of the cervix. The papilloma viruses that cause wartlike growths on the genitals are sexually transmitted.

HPV-Human Papaloma Virus cause genital warts and can be spread through having sex. Can cause cervical cancer but is NOT a cancer unto itself. It's NOT aids but it is an STD (sexually transmitted disease). People with this often have "canker" sores on their lips will the disease is active. There is no cure but there are meds to help curb the outbreaks and it is spread even if you are not actively in a cycle.

HPV is the human-papilloma virus. It is a sexually transmitted disease that can be asymptomatic or have very few symptoms. It is very easy to pass it back and forth between your partner and you. It can cause cervical cancer.

AIDS and HIV are not the same thing as someone else mention earlier. HIV leads to AIDS. But, again, two different things.

it's a virus that can lead to cancer, also other things... there are like hundreds of different hpv's that have been discovered. aids is hiv.. different. totally different. hpv-16 typically leads to cervical cancer. that might be where you're hearing it. it's been hyped up lately. now a vaccine exists but is totally treatable if you catch it early.

In layman's terms, it's genital warts. There are over 100 varieties. "Treatment" consists of removing them when they appear, regular examinations. It is a virus, and like herpes there is no cure. I hope the CDC info is helpful.
