I am under medication "zimvastatin 10mg" due to high levels of cholesterol in my blood. Today I'm having an unusual pain in the right side of the chest. The pain comes on & off. Quite difficult when the pain comes. I did not tell anyone yet. I am in my office. Can anyone please tell me immediately why I have this? It will be of help if any doctor can see this query and answer me.
Thanks.

You should go see your doctor...

It could be ANYTHING, from heart attack, to indigestion..

A heart attack will cause severe pain from center of sternum and more likley just to the left side of the sternum. Dizziness, blurred vision, light headedness, and occassionally pain usually down left arm. Signs of a stroke include sudden blurred vision, onset of pain in either arm, usually left including numbness and tingling. A loss of balance and feeling of unsteadiness when standing or walking and loss of cognitive abilities. Not all of these symptoms are necessary and can be a combination with slow onset over several hours or severe and sudden. The last and most telling sign used in the field by paramedics today is the grip test. Have someone stand or sit in from of you, place your hands in each corresponding hand of theirs, then squeeze simultaneously as hard as posible. A feeling by the person helping you which indicates a weaker grip strength from the painful arm is very indicative of a stroke. Weakness from the opposite hand in combination with other signs should be cause for immediate concern as well. Call 911 and have paramedics respond to assess you if you feel any of these signs or have acute severe abdominal pain, or any of the other signs in combination with right chest pain. Right chest pain alone, especially that has lasted for days, is usually more indicative of heartburn or gas. But if it doesn't feel right to you, call 911. Most agencies have paramedics or nurses who take the calls, and can quick assess your symptoms and determine if emergency response is in order.

Since you obviously have at least one risk factor for a heart attack (high cholesterol) you need to be seen in an ER right away. Chest pain is not something to mess around with. I've seen people be totally fine and be having an MI (heart attack), or they are screaming in pain - the symptoms run the gammet.

u might have unstable angina, caused by a atherosclerotic pace that has ruptured and now flows freely in the blood. when it reaches the coronaries (arteries in the heart) can cause obstruction to the blood flow, and hypoxia. the hypoxia causes cell death and that's what causes the pain...if the thrombus is big enough can clog up the artery and cause a heart infarction..to alleviate the pain u can take nitroglycerin. be carefull if u're taking statins cause they're bad for u. try to be careful with ur diet and do exercise. go to the doctor.

i have a wpw heart condition, but the last 10 years i had unbeliveable chest pain on my right side to, i did go to a doctor, and we found it to be gas, you,d think you were having a heart attack on your right side or like you said a stoke, i,d get to a doc and ask him if you have acid reflux or really bad heart burn, thats what it sounds like to me hun, epecially if in a while it passes only to come back later, get it checked and good luck

whatever dr that put u on these meds needs to be contacted. usually ur dr.s office has an after hrs number where ur doc is on call and can call u back and tell u what to do. if this has started after u taking this med, it probably isnt the right one for you. keep in mind though dnt take any chances, if this persists, i know it is late and a hassle, u need to go to the emergency room where you can be monitered. you dont want to take any chances. good luck.

the only reason i would NOT get an EKG and cardiac enzymes is if pushing on that same spot recreated the pain you are having.

GO TO ER right away!

You should see a doctor. It could be Angina or a heart attack or your body isn't liking your medication.
