My wife has been a vegetarian since she was 9. Since she's been an adult she has has several medical problems including Depression, very low blood pressure, fatigue & kidney problems.
Any nutritionists or WELL experienced veges out there that can help me out with some advice?
I'm afraid to have kids with her because it might kill her.

I've been a vegetarian pratically all my life, and there are millions out there that never eat meat their entire life. I'm not a medical person, but I don't think that depression and low blood pressure and kidney problems are linked to not eating animals. But I do know that if you don't have enough iron, you can feel tired. If she's not eating enough veggies or iron fortified foods (or supplements), it could be a link to the fatigue. Has she been tested for lupus or fibromyalgia?

Vegetarianism itself is very safe, but you still have to eat and live well. Does she smoke? Drink? Excercise? Family have a history of medical problems? I had a girlfriend who was a "junkfood vegetarian" who ate mostly bread and cheese and chocolate, and I can tell you for a fact that she does not get enough protein or vitamins and is overweight.

I know plenty of meat eaters with severe medical problems, that doesn't mean that meat causes depression, any more than not eating meat causes depression. There are world class atheletes who are vegetarians. Check out the PETA site for more info.

Her conditions may have nothing to do with being a vegetarian. If a person eats healthy and gets the nutrients they need, the diet they choose has no bearing on an illness they might get. Have her see a nutritionist. No one here that might even be one can help without seeing and talking to her.

Being a vegetarian is safe, as long as you are diligent about getting protein and other things like amino acids, etc. from other sources. I would suggest that she see a nutritionist regularly to guide her in making good food decisions. As far as being afraid to have kids with her- that is something you should be VERY candid with her about, but ultimately, it is up to her as to whether or not she wants to risk her health to have a child. BTW- I have been a vegetarian for 12 years, and I am respectfully healthy!

My wife has been a vegetarian since birth and she doesn't have any health problems. Perhaps your wife needs a more balanced diet. Being vegetarian doesn't mean you should eat whatever you like as long as it doesn't have meat. You still need a balanced diet to be healthy. Try the site below for good recipes.

No. It isn't. We have the intestines adn teeth of an obnivore.
Eating meat every day is unhealthy and excessive. Once a week is a healthy amount to prevent any deficiencies and keep you bowells healthy.
Your girlfriend may not be balancing her diet well. There are millions of Indians who get all the Vitamins and animal proteins they need from dairy products, pulses and legumes without having to think about their diet.
Veganism is dangerous and obsessive eating disorder.

Properly done, one can be a healthy vegetarian. Usually you have to be very careful to mix in enough vegetables with proteins in them (beans, for instance) to make it work.

Having said that, most vegetarians I know look like they could use a good steak.

Finally, I'm not sure that your wife's problems are wholly due to her diet. That may be a compounding factor, but there are other underlying causes.

Good luck. Sounds tough.

Definetly vegetarianism is safe, u cannot relate ur wife's health problem with the vegetarian food , its related to health problem, tell her to have more vegetables and also some sprouted grains which contains more proteins. And let me tell u one thing depression and low BP is due to tension in her routine life, ask her to meditate which helps her to heal from all problems.
