I have had my medication increased, but my symptoms are getting worse; I am totally lethargic, sleep at least 16 hours a day and just cannot seem to do anything at all. My doctor says it will "sort itself out" but I am only 65- I cannot spend the rest of my life feeling like this, and it is so bad am contemplating suicide because I just have no quality of life at all. I live on a very healthy diet without fats or sugars, I cannot walk because I have arthritis and cannot exercise because I have spinal damage. I dont bake cookies, and if I did I certainly couldnt afford to give them away. Thank you all for your answers, but none of them help me; I have tried getting up early, but I fall asleep over breakfast; fruit and yogurt, I ride my trike when I can to get out of the house, and I get to the shops on an electric scooter. I go to Weightwatchers because I make friends there, and I make cards and clocks for animal charities. This is not a psychological problem, and I am not depressed by my life, just by the exhaustion produced by this illness.Thank you for your replies. XXXXX

you need to see both an endocrinologist and a certified diabetes educator. Diabetes does not "sort itself out". It takes dedication on the part of the patient and the practitioner (doctor, PA, or NP). could be you need to get started on insulin. Have you been, or are you resistant to "needles"? insulin is not the end of the world; it CAN be a life-extender and life-saver! The 16 hrs of sleep/day makes me want to ? other things, like: are you depressed, anemic, low thyroid, getting "quality" sleep? all of these things can cause excessive drowsiness. good luck.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

hi there...i know what you are going through and have been in your shoes..don't worry. Your body is adjusting and by the year end it should get better.
I was confused and preplex and changed doctors at your point. My current doctor explained that not all people respond to diabetes the same way because they are in different stages. She explained the best medicine to treat is insulin but the only reason people are not just instantly put on insulin is the shots. There are several pills out there that can do wonders..I take Actos and have tried metformin. Metformin does me no good, actos is my pill that works. There are many more and you just need to find the one the clicks for you. And if none click..there's always insulin...it will work.
I also recommend vitamins. Try a diabetes vitamin packet you can get at Walmart. It has all the vitamins that a diabetic needs. When I get really exhausted, I supplement with and extra Vitamin B complex..it helps convert calories to energy.
Hope this helps out and please keep me posted :)

First of all, PLEASE do not talk of suicide...it's really not a viable option! Your friends and family who love you will support you in any way. I am 51 and am going through what you are going through. It seems I sleep (or want to sleep) all the time, and to even lift my arm up drains me of any energy I might have. But I am an artist and do commissions, so that forces me to do something valuable with my time.
Try your best to get outside and walk a mile or so every day. That truly does help. Walking also lifts your spirits if you are down in the dumps. Being diagnosed with ANY symptom is enough to send you into depression, but you CAN live with this. It's not easy at first, but it does get easier.
Also, there is currently a medical study going on for people with Diabetes. I'm not sure what the prerequisites are, but if you qualify, everything would be free, even the meds. But you would have to call to get more information or to see if it is available in your area. The number to call is 1-866-IWILL.
Please email me and let me know how you are doing. I will add you to our prayer list.

don't even think about suicide. There are things that can be done. First you have to start by eating healthy and take some vitamins that will help you pep up. Also see a counselor, it reallyhelps to talk it out with someone. try to do some exercise, preferrably walking. Try talking to a family member and maybe meet a new friend. I always Pray to God. that helps too, and last but not least try to get into some community programs where you could meet new friends and go on day trips and outings, so that you have something to look foward to. God Bless you!!!

Have you changed your diet? I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with my last child, which is a lot like Type 2. Mine was corrected with diet. Try eating every 2 hours, and when you eat your meals, divide your plate into 3 sections; one for meat or protein, one for green veggies, and one for starches or carbs. It has been my experience that if you eat a lot of carbs for a long time, your body will over produce sugars if you cut them out completely. Just stay away from simple sugars, and stick to whole grains. It's tricky, but you will get the hang of it. My grandmother has Type 2, and she has been doing very well, as she has had it for several years now. Do not get discouraged! And make sure you check your sugar after every meal. Diabetes sucks, because it affects everyone differently due to your eating habits. Just hang in there! It's only been 5 months, and I know it's hard. But, God doesn't give us anything we can't handle. If you need someone to talk to, please IM me.

I have a couple of questions before I try to answer this question.
Are you seeing an Endocrinologist or a General Practitioner for your diabetes care?
Have you seen a dietitian?
Do you regularly check your glucose levels? If so, what are they when you wake, before meals and after?
Have you spoken with your doctor and Pharmacist about medication interference if you are taking medication for your arthritis?
I know it's a lot of questions but the more information the better the answers.

Sounds like you may also have a thyroid problem. Ask doc to check it out. If it is thyroid, that would explain the increased meds (low thyroid means low metabloism means higher sugars), fatigue, and depression. If worse comes to absolute worst, if you go to an ER, they tend to do a few more tests than a regular office because of the urgent nature of things they see. ER is expensive though, still, so use your best judgement.
(Could also be anemic - again, ask the doc to check for that)
