I thought I had a boil on my bum, turns out its herpes. I've been with one guy (my hubby) and he doesn't have it! What the hell!!!!

Anyways, I have an outbreak and we are suppose to be taking some friends out to a waterpark when my little friend made his appearance on my rear end. My doctor took one look at it and said it was herpes..without a culture or blood test..uggggghhh!

Sorry, I'm still dealing with the shock. Can I still go swimming? Its on my butt cheek, its gross, it hurts and I'm running a gambit of emotions from acceptance to utter denial!

These are plans we made over a month ago and now I have to cancel or what? What about spreading it..its on my butt cheek, can my hubby or niece get it from using the toilet after me? I ran out and bought clorex wipes for the toilet.

God help me and can you please too?

Absolutely! I have genital herpes and I go swimming all the time and have never had a problem. I have had problems with hot tubes and jacuzzi's though. I can't go in them because literally the very next day I will have an outbreak.

My doctor told me to always wash my hands and anything I touch the sores with (towels, etc) really good though. I was really worried about it when I was first diagnosed and giving it to my younger brothers. Since it is on your bottom you might want to wipe the seat off after you have used it, just to be on the safe side.

Good luck to you!

I'm not being nosy, but if you've been with someone else before you ever got married then that person could have given it to you. It could have even been the same way with your hubby. Herpes lies dormat in your spine, usually if you get stressed out can bring them on. So you could have had it the whole time and never knew it. Your dr. can give you a cream to help with the itching and burning. And you can also take Valtrax to help you get rid of it quicker. Try to calm down, if not it may get worse. Don't get stressed out. And no they can't get it from using the toliet but your hubby can without using a condom. So hold off while your infected.
Ask your dr. for some reading material on herpes to help you understand it better.

If it is herpes, then perhaps your hubby gave it to you from oral sex, and you have type 1 genitally. If you haven't already, you should find out if the culture was typed.

If it wasn't typed, you should have a type specific blood test done.

And I don't know if hubby has been tested, or is going on symptoms, but no symptoms doesn't mean he doesn't have it.

You can't spread it in a pool, by the way, and the chlorine might help dry up a sore.

Read the herpes handbook at the link I have posted below.

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?

But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

i don't think so. in the commercial for herpes medicine they are always swimming or kayaking or otherwise froliking about in what appears to be our municipal water supply. so i don't think you can catch it that way. plus a swimming pool has enough chlorine to kill like, a person, maybe you, probably so i wouldn't worry about herpes. and you can only die of herpes if you are a baby or you have aids, so just relax!!! age 13 is the last time you can truly relax until age 100.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).

Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.

The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid?such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

I doubt if it is herpes. If your doctor didn't do a culture on it and gave you a diagnoses just by sight (on your bum, no less), you need a new doctor. If it is herpes, you can go swimming no problem.
