I am not a professional, but I can tell you what I do know. Bacteria and yeasts live in people's mouths. In fact, it is principally yeast that contributes to plaque. That's why sugary foods are not good for your teeth. Yeasts feed on sugar. The more sugar you eat, the more yeasts you will have in your mouth. If the person who gave you oral sex eats a lot of sugar, drinks a lot of beer (which is fermented with yeast) and has poor dental hygene, he likely has large colonies of yeasts in his mouth, and may have passed on some to you. If you also have a poor diet and eat a lot of sugar, you are creating an environment in your body that helps these organisms grow.

The belief that there is something wrong in the mouth of the one who gives you oral sex is WRONG!!! The vaginal secretions are acid and this prevents you from getting yeast infections (which grow in a less acid environment). When someone gives you oral sex it may change the pH (a measurement of acidity) of your vagina and thus a yeast may grow. The yeast comes from yourself, not from others, however you have it in very small amounts so that it won't cause any problems. When the pH changes it overgrows and causes symptoms like itching, whitish discharge. Vaginal creams help rapidly or one single dose of 150 mg of Fluconazole. Another reason that might have caused you to have symptoms is simply too much rubbing of your vaginal mucosa, like a "scratch". That might explain the short duration of your symptoms, because a yeast infection usually lasts longer without treatment.

You might prevent a yeast infection by applying a very diluted solution of water and vinegar after getting oral sex. And keep enjoying it!

Also, yeast infection can occur at any age AND IT'S NOT A SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE!!! It happens frequently with antibiotic consumption (which kills the bacteria that keep the vaginal pH on the acid side), diabetes, too much oral sex or anything that changes the pH.

I am going to go with you might not ever know if it was from oral - which I doubt - or just something that happened coincidentally.

Sometimes, the normal bacteria in mouths can cause infections, but that wouldn't cause a yeast infection.

Just pay attention to see if it happens again, and go from there.

Lots and lots of things cause yeast infections, and sometimes they just seem to appear from nowhere.

Don't stop having oral sex if you like it, and there is NO need for gargling, etc, before hand.

The guy who gave your oral sex caused the yeast infection. I had this happen to one of my girlfriends many years back after giving her oral. It never happened again after that. I assume my mouth was dirty or it was something I ate or she wasn't clean or something. It hasn't happened to any other women I've been with in the last 10 years.

sounds like sergio d had the right answer on this one. Don't stop enjoying oral sex (if you like it). Just remember who you are with, and clean up after. Some women are prone to yeast infections. You can get one with out having oral sex.

I too recommend seeing a health care practitioner who can put your mind at ease about this. No need to be freaked out. Could have been a number of things, nothing to be embarassed about. Your Doctor can explain all of this to you and validate it better than anyone in Yahoo can.

I agree with everyone who stated to go to the doctor.
And in the future, you might want the guy to gargle with Listerine before having oral sex.
