One who does not consume or use anything from an animal. Some vegetarians, called "soft vegetarians" still eat fish and shellfish because those type of things have less complex nervous systems than edible mammals. Vegans are on the extreme end of vegetarianism. Vegans do not consume eggs or any dairy products. They do not wear any kind of leather or purchase products with leather in them (ie cars with leather interiors, leather handbags, etc).
So, serving quiche lorraine while wearing leather chaps would be a bad idea. Check out different recipe websites for vegan cooking ideas, and good luck!

A vegan eats only products which do not come from an animal. This not only applies to meat, but extends to dairy- milk, eggs and cheese. Consider any product that has animal product in it- even Jello and Altoids (which contain gluten from cow hooves) to be non-vegan.
Usually people become vegan because they disapprove of the way animals are farmed and treated by the meat industry.

Sorry Ashy, you've got your answer already, so I'm going to write a little something to DAVID J.
OK David. I'm not a vegan, I'm a vegetarian because I "want to live life as nature intended", borrowing your words. I don't consider the conditions our future meat lives in natural. I don't consider the mass deaths of them natural. I don't consider the packaging natural. I don't consider buying a piece of muscle wrapped in foil laying in a freezer in a supermarket natural. I don't think it's natural to eat it unless you naturally hunt it, ******* strip the skin off, take the organs out, get rid of the bones. Then do whatever will make you enjoy the "delicious meats".
Imagine this is happening to people. And you go back to Hitler, just add the breeding. We enslaved several species and keep them in awful conditions. ******* shameful..
There is a difference between animals and people, I know - intellect. So use what you've been given.. you self absorbed ignorant.

Vegan eats nothing that is animal based. Like cheese, milk, all your dairy stuff, along with the meats. They eat mainly the veggies, fruits and nuts like they did in the garden of Eden and beyond till meat was introduced after the flood.

A vegan is a person who doesn't eat eggs, meat, milk, cheese or any other dairy product, or honey. Vegans also do not wear leather or fur or silk.
If a person doesn't eat meat or dairy, but does wear leather or fur they are a strict vegetarian and not a vegan. A vegan denotes that the person doesn't use gelatin or leather, silk or fur as well.

A vegan is someone who doesn't eat any meat or animal by-products including eggs or dairy. For most people this means they can't eat most breads cuz they're made with eggs, no Caesar salad cuz the sauce has anchovies, etc. I can't imagine not being able to eat cheese or ice cream!

A vegan is like a vegitarian, but more into it.
A vegitarian, doesn't eat meat. Avegan eats nothing from an animal or any living thing. So no milk, cheese, honey, etc. Only whole grains, and vegitables.

An IDIOT who has grown up in an affluent society and becomes so arrogant, self-absorbed and downright spoiled that they grow to hate not only themselves but the society that created them.
One manifestation of this self-loathing is the false sense of guilt they place on the consumtion of animals and the projected hatred they develop for the majority of people who simply live life as nature intended and enjoy the tasty meats provided by animals.
These people will grieve over the treatment of chickens and stand for hours protesting in front of KFC, but they will never lift a finger to help clothe, feed and shelter homeless families in their own hometowns, or work in their local animal shelter or educate their neighbors on the importance of spaying and neutering their cats and dogs.
