I suggest you get down to your nearest bookshop and have a look through some vegetarian cookbooks, then buy your favourite. I personally like ones with pictures, so you can see how the dish is meant to turn out.

Types of food that are particularly good for veggies are Far Eastern (eg veggie sushi, Chinese noodles), South East Asian (tofu, curries), and Indian (particularly Gujarati food). These types of food are all fairly strongly flavoured so you don't feel like anything is 'missing'.

Drinks and desserts are usually vegetarian anyway, so you shouldn't need a special cookbook for those. The exceptions are desserts made with gelatin and suet, and anything with pink food colouring (it's made out of insect blood although veggie versions are available). If you're making cocktails, watch out for Worcestershire sauce (contains anchovies), Angostura bitters (fish) and Campari (bug blood again). Very strict vegetarians won't drink alcoholic drinks that have been fined (filtered) through fish by-products (eg Guinness, wine) - have a look on the Vegetarian Society's website for a list of acceptable drinks.
