HIV is a blood bord disease. You can not get it from kissing. You would have to swallow over a gallon of infected spit to have to worry. You can't tell by looking at a person that they have HIV. I have had it 17yrs . The main ways to catch HIV is by sharing needles, unprotected sex, and getting someones infected blood in an open cut. But it is also hard for a woman to give it to a man. So if you are around blod don't touch it, just be safe and be careful...

During primary HIV infection, most individuals (80 to 90%) develop an acute syndrome characterised by flu-like symptoms of fever, malaise, lymphadenopathy, pharyngitis, headache, myalgia, and sometimes a rash.

HIV is transmitted through direct contact of a mucous membrane with a bodily fluid containing HIV, such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid, preseminal fluid or breast milk. This transmission can come in the form of: penetrative (anal or vaginal) sex; oral sex; blood transfusion; contaminated needles; exchange between mother and infant during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding; or other exposure to one of the above bodily fluids.

A person with HIV can be hiding the symptoms (or they dont show the symptoms)for like up to max 10years with medication to supress the disease..
so we cant really tell other than the person always having sickness such as fever ,flu, cough, skin lesions that seemed to be resistant to medications
Also HIv patients usually have habits before they got the disease such as drug addicts.watch out for the injections marks on the arm or anywhere else.
They are prone to hepatitis ,other sexually transmitted disease(they might have it already)
There are many ways of HIV to transfer as long as there as blood pathways..like for example in the dentistry, needle pricks,
blood tranfusions, many others to name a few.
Advise her to go for a blood test for screening.
