A month or two ago I developed a bad blister in my mouth which is not unusual for me however it lastest several weeks. At the time I put it down to stress/being run down.
I went to S Ireland last week with family and was generally feeling very confused within myself but physically felt fine, had overly high appetite. I had come down with a bad outbreak of cold/flu however and since I have got back I got back home I have lost at least half stone of weight suddenly, I have swollen neck glands, sore throat, inflammed taste buds, very weak arms/legs, slight irratation below and feeling generally exhausted. Doctors think it could be to do with my thyroid/hormones or a continuing virus however I am concerned it could be an STD as my previous partner of about 5-6 months ago cheated on me with someone who was very rough and hung around with druggie types and he performed oral sex on me and on one occasion kissed me when he had been bleeding slightly from mouth.

You sound so scared so lets see if we cant help you a little, first dont panic i know but please this makes you ill and your sytoms worse which may well be the case right now.The truth is the risk of aids is low and the only way to know is a test. Yes scary but it will put an end to all of this. In your phone book there will be a number of a clinic the nhs is your in the uk has private test centres within the hospital they have councilors who can talk to you can tell you of the risks. And help you deal with what is happening and how you feel, it will help. While at the clinic they will also run other test at the same time so then you will know for sure. At this point i will tell you that if you have std it can and will be treated it is not the end of the world, just a huge learning curve for you. Also remember having a cold or flu does not mean that you are ill with anything else, it may of just knocked you side ways and took alittle longer to run its course and you were travelling as well, so your body have of slowed down. There is only one thing to do and that is call your hospital, no one has to know and you dont even have to be called your real name when you get there and no one has to know, but you need to go and get checked out. Remember it may be nothing, it does not sound like hiv or aids, the chances are so so remote and if its std you can be treated. Take care and good luck.

It sounds like you have an underlying infection that has just gotten worse because of worry and stress. It's amazing what stress will do to the human body. AIDS? Highly unlikely, but quite possible. Your symptoms are pretty severe for such a short time of exposure. But get a complete physical from your physician. The blood work on a physical routinely carries an HIV test. The lymph nodes are swollen because they are actively working to stop the infection and remove it. Inflamed taste buds? Never heard of that. Get checked for Mono as well.

Honey. . . I honestly feel for you. Try to be positive. . . but while you're at it, you need to get a blood test. Only a blood test can reveal whether or not you are truly HIV positive.

I hope that's not what you have though. But if it is, I would encourage you to join a support group and take proper care of yourself by eating right and taking the required medication.

I wish you all the best!

Some people experiment primoinfection of HIV as a bad outbreak of flu, but don't think I am telling you got it. Go get an HIV test and some more tests to rule out STDs

Its impossible to answer this here. Yes, you could be at risk from HIV given what you've said about your previous partner. But if the doctors have tested you for thyroid/hormonal probs then surely they have tested you for HIV and STDs?

If not, or if you don't know if they have, you need to go and talk to your doctor and tell him/her what you've said here. It may be something or nothing but only someone from the medical profession can help you with this question. Any answer here is only supposition.

You probably don't have AIDS since its rare to spred it through oral sex. You do have SOMETHING though. The swollen glands mean that your body is fighting something. Get checked for AIDS to make sure, then get checked for whatever else it might be, then rest a lot and get better.

Don't worry. As soon as it stopped bleeding you were safe. And brushing up against someone is not a way to be infected. You need to have penetrative sexual intercourse with out protection to be infected. You would have had to have gotten a body fluid from someone else into your body.

I wouldn't look for answers to questions like that on this site- Go to your doctor or a clinic and get tested this week, don't put it off and drive yourself crazy over it.

Just take good care of yourself. Don't allow yourself to obsess over this or let this distract you from your everyday life!
