The ACTUALL drugs that are found in our meat supply and the ACTUALL pus and drugs in milk would worry me far more. Estrogen is a chemical that occurs naturally in both male and female bodies and the 10-13 systems (number depends on who you ask) in our bodies that work to regulate and maintain homeostasis have intregal mechanisms to manage that much better and more easily than the drugs that don't normally occur in our systems. While veganism is often an issue of animal rights it can also be an issue of individual and family health. For those that study diet nutrition and exercise deeply enough, it just makes since to poison oneself less.

Vegetarians and Vegans practice something called "food combining" this is a way to make sure their bodies (and their family's bodies) are getting all the nutrients needed for a balanced diet.

Known information about estrogen and fats in soy products are taken into consideration. I know quite a few who don't even use soy at all, others limit it. None that I know of live off of daily intake of soy or soy based products.

As well, vegetarians and vegans just like any other person take their kids in for the physicals and when they get ill. So if something is going ary (weight gain, etc) the doc will also be an opportunity to catch it and correct it before it becomes a problem. Additionally, the doctors do inquire as to what the children are eating in the diets, so again if something is being consumed too much or not enough there is an opportunity to catch that, adjust, remove or add whatever it is.

Definitely seitan and TVP/tofu. But keep in mind that either one alone is not a balanced protein but together they are. You don't have to balance your proteins daily, but every 2-3 days is recommended. Like, don't just eat seitan for 7 days straight. A lot of people think you need to balance amino acids at every meal. That is not true. Every two days is good enough. At the other extreme, some people try to find the perfect one food they can eat. There is no such food. You should always balance your diet. Tofu may be a bean product but it tastes nothing like beans. Try it.

There is no estrogen in plants. They're called phytoestrogens, and they are a tiny, tiny fraction the strength of human estrogen. Because they contain the word "estrogen" they are often leveraged by the meat and dairy industries to scare men away from being vegetarians.

of course, you have to be careful not to eat too much soy, but the same is true of many other things. (too much sugar can cause diabetes.) yes, a diet very high in soy can increase estrogen in the human body.

personally, since i want to avoid breast cancer (high estrogen levels increases chances), i hardly ever drink soy milk. i drink rice milk instead. i occasionally have soy in tofu and in meat-replacement products, but i don't have it every day. besides, there are so many health benefits from soy that it would be silly to avoid it.

moderation is the key, as with pretty much anything you eat.

There is also estrogen found in beef and milk. I'm sure that you knew that though- since you seem to know so much about us vegans.

I wonder if meat eaters worry about the affects of hormones, antibiotics etc they consume. I am sure that would be more harmful for a child.
