I did get your private posting to me, but for some reason I couldn't send you anything back- it said that you hadn't confirmed your address. Yes- it is harder to diagnosis Trich in men than women, so this could be the case with your situation. Besides examining your discharge under a microscope, they can also do a DNA test.

Trichinosis larvae encycst themselves in your intestine, muscle tissue, and possibly your brain and other organs, often causing a lot of pain. I believe the diagnosis is usually made based on symptoms, rather than tests.

I'm doubtful of a urine test or blood culture for trich. It's a worm, not a bacteria. It doesn't replicate in your body, just encysts, and it ends there. The larvae don't hatch, unless something or someone were to eat you, but the cysts can cause adverse immune reactions, inflammation, and pain. The only way you'd be able to detect by blood is with an anitbody test. Don't know if they have that. The definitive test is a muscle biopsy.

If your doctor did urine and blood cultures, it was probably to rule out other diagnoses.

**I looked it up. There is serologic testing, but it is not specific.
