When you sneeze it indicates that you don't feel well. So when people hear you sneeze they say "bless you". Farting is generally not an unhealthy function, just impolite to do it in front of other people. When you fart you should say "excuse me" and the reply should be "you are excused".

By the way, do you know why farts stink so bad?

Answer: So that deaf people can enjoy them too!

the saying bless you is an old belief that if you are talking and you sneeze that is an indication that you are telling the truth and therefore god should bless you. Farting is just stinky and indicates nothing except you ate beans and cabbage for lunch.

because bless you started around the 1600s, when someone would sneeze they thought you were sneezing out a demand, they never thought you would fart out a demand.

it has something to do with witches and other elementals from the retro.. it kinda goes something like this..

it is said that when a person sneezes, demons and other bad elementals are puting curses on them-- that is why people say "bless you" -- its a protection from the bad.

... good day.
