I think that they were around in the Medieval or Middle Ages. I thought it was Agnostic, but Wilkepedia doesnt think so. I remember hearing about it in high school. They held that Satan was justified in talking the 1/3 Heavenly Host into rebeling with him because God was tyranical and prone to tormenting others.

I think it was maltheists or Cainites, from mal= evil and theos= god and from the way they saw Cain as a heroic figure for standing up to God.

That would be the Freemasons.

There is also a non-muslim Kurdish sect in Iraq which worships an "angel" (some claim is "satan" and others say no).
