Mulholland Drive: This famous scenic drive is considered to be one of the most relaxing getaway spots in LA. Mulholland Drive cuts through the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area from Hollywood to the Ventura County line. Driving the length of the hilltop road is slow and the rewards are sensational views of valley and city on each side and expensive homes along the way.

Its almost Fair Season.. why not wait until then and go to the LA County Fair in Pomona?

If not, there's old town Pasadena where there's a lot of shops and restaurants. There's also the Humane Society off Green? street. I think. The facility is very very clean and also they rescue exotic animals as well as puppies/kittens. Once they had a peacock!

But if you're talking kids... well, there's the kidsmuseum in downtown LA, but that's not that close to Santa Anita.
