I drink about 2-4 cups in the morning depending on how much of a lift I need. There is a tolerance to caffeine but, if you quit caffeine for about 4-5 days your tolerance will go back down. I try to avoid it on weekends when I don't need it.

I don't drink it. Sounds like you have developed a strong tolerance to your caffeine addiction. Caffeine stimulates your thyroid gland and you may have overdone it so now the caffeine doesn't work and your thyroid gland needs a rest. More caffeine will just make it worse. Try having those broth packets instead of coffee to help you wean yourself off. My sister did that. She had headaches at first, then she felt better than she had for years. Now she just has decaf.
By the way, you can gently stimulate your thyroid gland in the morning with a piece of fruit-that is fruit, not juice.

I drink about five cups a day...my husband drinks twice that, and he's the same way, he can drink coffee right before bed and sleep like a baby. It's because your body is used to that amount of caffeine a day. Try going a day without any form of caffeine, you'll get a killer headache. It's like a tolerance to an addiction. You're body is used to that amount of caffeine, without it you'll go into a form of withdrawl. Try switching the type of coffee you're making. Like switch to espresso or latte. It's higher in caffeine and you should get the buzz back.

i only hv 1 cup a day unless im super tired on that day then i'll take 2.
taking 7-8 cups must hv made u so used to the taste , smell n caffeine effect so much so that it no longer has the same kick anymore.
it happened to me once, like the coffee did not hv any effect on me any longer so what i did was i withheld coffee for breakfast for 1 week before returning to my habit of having my morning coffee. it worked.
maybe u might wanna change the brand of ur coffee. i do that frequently just so i hv to keep adapting to the caffeine n it wld keep me on the constant high.

Sleepier? Hmmmm. How much sugar? Check for diabetes.
Diabetes patients and borderline diabetes patients need to avoid all caffeine products and sugar, otherwise they suffer from side effects of low and high blood sugar. Eight cups of coffee is about 920 milligrams of caffeine. That's excessive.
