Well, I can't speak as a Mormon because I'm not one, but I believe the Mormon church (in fact, I know they have) has passed rules forbidding polygamy amongst its members.
However, polygamy has a VERY long history in human society, and even in the Bible. King David, for instance, had multiple wives and even had a man killed so he could take a woman he was smitten with as an additional wife (if I remember correctly, she was number seven).
If you look back historically through most societies, you will find that polygamy was a common practice, especially among more affluent males who could afford to support multiple mates.
The Koran also encourages men to take as many wives as they can afford to care for.
Remember the play "The King and I"? How many wives did the King have in that play? Twenty seven, twenty eight?
Believe it or not, this "one man, one woman" idea we have of marriage is very recent, and isn't universally thought of as the right way to view things, even in America.
After all, why shouldn't someone be allowed to marry more than one partner, provided all involved are agreeable? You can't claim it's against Bible teachings, after all. God encourages it right in the Scriptures. Even Abraham had more than one mate.
I'm not passing judgment on it, mind you, I'm just noting that the "traditional definition of marriage" everyone keeps banging on about is not the traditional definition of marriage... it's one that got made up about 1950 or so and still hasn't caught on everywhere.

Having multiple wives is much better that having an affair outside marriage.
Statistics at NY-USA, shows that more that 63% of married men had had an affair or sexual contact outside marriage. The same study shows, that 39% of married women had had an affair too..
Such acts will increase in any society which prohibits multiple wives, so which is better?
Note: Islam allows only four wives at the same time, but some ethical conditions are laid .

At least they've corrected that problem.
Other major problems in mormonism:
While claiming to be monotheists, mormons activily practice polytheism. They believe that the best of the best will become gods over their own planet after entering into the 'celestial kingdom.' "As man is, so god was. As god is, so man can become" is their belief.
Mormons believe that Adam is the 'god' of this world.
Mormons believe that a woman cannot enter into the celestial kingdom unless her name is 'called out' by a man upon his death and entrance into the celestial kingdom.
Mormons do not believe in the trinity. rather, Christ is a completely seperate entity from 'god.'
The history of the Book of Mormon reports that it was translated completely accurate and without flaw by Joseph Smith with the aid of moroni. ... Since its creation, there have been over 4000 changes to the book ... doesn't sound so flawless to me.
