Iced tea was invented at the World's Fair in 1904 when fairgoers were not buying hot tea because of the extreme heat outside. So the owner of the stand selling tea, Richard Blechynden an english tea merchant, packed glasses full of ice then added tea. The drink was a success and extremely popular in the U.S. thereafter

I don't know if lipton invented tea or not, but it's been around a long time. It is the best too, I think.
I drink a lot of green teas too. You can get almost any blend that
you can imagine. I like it plain.

Coca Tea is called tea because it's a brewed drink that's not coffee. Herbal teas are called tea for the same reason. They aren't made from the tea plant, but they are brewed beverages.
