I am not qualified to make that judgment - though some things such a Yeshu idol in a manger at Christmas with 2 people who in all likelihood don't much resemble Mary & Joseph clearly are. Same for statues of Jesus with a halo or representing Mary - etc.
IMO it depends how it is used. Pictures used for illustration - I would say no. Crosses - not by themselves - it is a symbol which can be used in a favorable way. Put a dead Jew on it and it becomes an idol of sorts.

Worship or prayer to a statue or picture is idol worship. The cross or crucifix falls in to this category. That's why catholic priest preform exorcise with a crucifix to reinforce the power and worship of the cross as having actual power, and fool the people into bowing down to an idol under a holy justification. The power actually lies with the name of Jesus, faith and the act of sacrifice Jesus made for forgiveness for our sins. Not a holy object or artifact.

Nothing wrong with the pictures, and the Catholic church does pray to saints. Jesus would not be considered idol worship because He is God the Son.

Correct on all points.
The Catholic Church had brought in pagan idol worship into its doctrine, thus giving the potential pagan convert something they were familar with. And even when various idols aren't used, the fall back is the cross. Everything centers around the Christian cross - to lay one's burdens at it, to use it in prayer, to seek guidence from it. Every church that has a cross is praying to an idol.

yes, i've thought about that before. the CROSS would be, (assuming that the bible is not complete garbage, and the 10 commandments have divine merrit...) and worshiping jesus would be as well. unless we get even MORE farfetched and say that jesus is actuall GOD, ("the son" will not work, god wanted NO ONE ELSE...AT ALL) then worshiping jesus would be okay. but theres still the problem of the cross to worry about, and hundreds kneel before it or clutching it (WEARING it) every day. But since the bible IS bull$hit, there is no need to worry about those things.

There is nothing wrong with having pictures on your walls of Jesus; his Mother; our Saints. The problem present itself when you start worshiping them. Remember this. No one come to the Father except by me, Jesus Christ speaking.
Don't let traditions of men rob you of your place in Heaven

well God says do not have any graving images and pictures statues all are graving images and i look at it this way.Say you have a girlfriend and then you have a picture of a model and go around saying''this is my girlfriend'' your girlfriend would probably be offended and be like'' i look nothing like that'' In the same way we have no idea what Jesus looked like so it's wrong for us to have pictures of another man and call it Jesus. and as far as statues. i think that's very wrong. i think praying to Mary is wrong and. that's just my personal opinion

NO, BUT THE USE OF THE VIRGIN MARY, IS CONSTITUTE AS IDOL WORSHIP, IN THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH SHE IS REVERED AS A DEITY, WHICH IS NOT THE FACT, SHE WAS MEARLY A VESSEL, SHE IS NOT AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, SHE I'M SURE IS VERY IMPORTANT IN BIBLICAL HISTORY, BUT SHE WAS THE MOTHER OF JESUS A VESSEL CHOSEN DUE TO HER PURITY, AND HER DEVOTION TO GOD
