I am not so certain it is only black women "hating" on other black women. The simple truth seems to be that women, in general, tend to clash with other women, in general. It's a protective mechanism built in biologically and then coupled and strengthened by the rules that govern our present-day society.

Women constantly feel like another woman is trying to "get them" or "ruin them." The rules of our society has made the world of women a very, very competitive arena. It is tougher to find men and keep them (no more arranged dating/marriages and 50% of marriages end in divorce) and there is a growing desire among women to get ahead in their careers and try to break through the barriers that surround men in higher positions. No longer are women able to just get married, have a family, be taken care of financially, and be guaranteed a happy marriage.

Women are fighting these new challenges every day. The constant paranoia of having to fend off OTHER women from our men, our jobs, our reputations, etc. is what causes us to "hate" on other women so easily. We forget that a lot of other women are also going through what we are going through.

As a side note, women are also far more calculated with their dislike toward other women. If a man doesn't like another man, it may come out (and be resolved) in one big, final battle royale. With women, we like to wear eachother down slowly and sneakily. We are definitely mental and emotional fighters.

Don't think it's a 'race thing' but a 'gender thing'.

If you think about it, women in general are very competitive and territorial.

Men think we dress for them, but in truth we dress to impress other women.

By the time we enter our teen years, the behavior will already be showing it's self. Mothers and daughters will be battling. At school we run in packs.

If you think about it... even as adults we still run in packs. We normally have a few close female friends. Others will be tolerated, and the rest is seen as competition.
