When having wine with food, I like whatever wine goes with the food I am eating. But for sheer enjoyment and relaxation, I prefer a sweet full bodied red wine.

red but new wine drinkers may not appreciate it at first. There are some good wihtes, and I appreciate a glass now and then on a summer day. But red is the finest. Your palette will appreciate it more with time, and the best reds will get better with age. Every bottle is an experience to enjoy.

depending on the FOOD..

Fish, shellfish, lobsters, and the like is great with white wine

red meats like steaks, pork, chicken and rabbit are better with red wine.

I really prefer just red wine so I will drink that with fish. Its all about individual taste. I like Shiraz, Merlot, and Cabernet.

Both.

In summer I love white (sauv blancs or riesling preferably), light chilled reds (eg rose) and sparkling.

I am more inclined to drink heavier reds during winter.

They both have there place and can be equally enjoyed.

However, avoid dessert wines and chardonnay. Yuck!!!
