A friend of mine adores her parakeets. They can't stay together in one cage that is why she purchased two separate cages. When she let's them out to play they are quite amusing. They chase, get jealous, and are very curious birds. They like taking a shower in a small bowl of water while she takes a shower in the bathroom. They also like to bite when they're jealous or angry. One thing, if you have a parakeet...make sure you don't wear your favorite shirt as they poop a lot. Although the poop can easily be washed.

They make great pets from what I know. Mostly you can put four in a small cage or 2-4 at most. But one is not ok, if you're gonna keep one, you have to have ALL the time to spend with it, or they don't live too long. If it has a mate or partner then it has much time to spend with it and a lot of fun. And even sometimes you don't have time for them, they keep each other busy or else the only one will eventually get sick and die. So please don't keep only one. --Thanks

Parakeets make excellent pets because they are small, easy to take care of and fairly inexpensive and quiet compared to other birds. I wouldn't get more than two to put in a small cage and having just one by itself is fine.

I had two in a cage once and they tore eachother apart. Then I had one by itself and he happened to be the world's meanest parakeet. As long as you get nice ones, that are trained to be with eachother and be on human hands, you shouldn't have a problem. I wouldn't put more than two in a small cage.

Yes! They are the best pets in the world. They live about 10-12 years. it is ok to keep just one in a cage. If you have 2 guys, they'll fight and if u keep 2 girls they'll fight. If u get a guy and a girl there will be babies...
I really recommend that you get a book if you are serious- they'll tell you more than I can.

They can be wonderful pets. If you only get one, you'll have to be its bird buddy. You will need to spend a minimum of a half hour a day with him/her. They can learn to talk (although not as clearly as some of the bigger birds). They can also be taught to whistle different tunes. You may find that your bird will immitate the microwave bell and/or other sounds around the house.

If you don't have time to spend with them it's best to get two as one bird will get lonely.

Well, I've found they hate being led on a leash, but other then that they make great pets. Its best to have 2 (for companionship) but one will be cool too. I love the blue ones.

I had a parakeet or budgie and he was fun. I would walk outside with him on my shoulder and take him for drives and put him on the steering wheel. Don't take the bird swimming they catch colds real quick.
