This earth cannot be a peaceful, respectful, and fruitful world until people give up selfishness. Whether it be Christians or non-Christian. If you don't agree with anothers beliefs at least respect them, is that to hard to ask. I take my beliefs in Christianity very seriously. And I notice that even some of the people who claim to be Christian fall short in this arena. I'm not judging anyone in particular but simply pointing out a defect that can be taken care of by Christ Himself. If you don't agree with anothers beliefs at least respect them, is that to hard to ask.

Jesus didn't teach tolerance, he taught radical intolerance. You sound like a Buddhist rather than a Christian.

You start out by saying, are the blind leading the blind these days and then you are off on a whole differant topic. Whats up with that?
Some church leaders are in fact leading the blind in respect that they teach dogmas of religion and not the Word of God. They being blind themselves to God's Word.

You go on and speak of selfishness like that is the only reason that there is no peace in the world. Our Lord Jesus Christ told us that there will not be peace on earth until He makes His second arrival. When countris start claiming peace then sudden destruction follows.

When our Heaven Father leads us to His Son Jesus Christ and you accept Him as you redemer and repent of your sin being washed in the blood of Him that was slain you are a new creature. Everything is new for you. You don't want to do the things you were doing before. A change was made in you by God. A new road lys ahesd of you.

Being Christian these day means differant things to people. Being a Christ man or woman is something else intirly. A bold walk in lifes roads made free of obstacules and traps by God Himself.

I respect all peoples for they ocuply space. They can believe as they wish but must be told them that the only way they are going to get to heaven is by accepting God's Son Jesus Christ.

There is not one Christian that does not fall short daily in life. The great thing is that we have a mediator to the Father and He is Jesus Christ. Each day one should ask the Fathers forgiveness in and through the blood that Jesus Christ shed for us. Repent daily. Its easy to do and Our Father love to hear from you everyday.

As an atheist, I don't mind respecting other people's beliefs on a general, philosophical basis. And, I was a practicing Christian for over thirty years. I also lived in Saudi Arabia amongst fundamentalist Muslims.

I have no problem with other people's beliefs.

Where I do have a problem is when the Vice President of the US (George Bush, Sr, 1988) uses his high office to denounce me as a traitor based solely on my choice of beliefs (or non-belief, if you prefer).

Or, when preachers and like minded people threaten me, either overtly or covertly, and suggest that bad things should happen to me based not on my behavior, but on my choice of beliefs (or non-beliefs, if you prefer).

I cannot see how we can reach common ground of mutual respect when the opponent makes it very clear he would really like to torture me for as long as possible before killing me.

But, I'll keep trying to have respect for those few who don't share those ideas.

I'm not a Christian but I try my best to respect everyone's faith. However, there are many people in this world(especially Christians and Muslims) who claim that their way is the "only" way and the other ways lead to hell. This makes me fell very bad because I cannot just sit around and tolerate all this narrow mindedness.

I respect other's beliefs, but I'm not going to stop being selfish. It's just my nature to be selfish. What's wrong with respecting other religions and thinking about myself?

Did Christ respect the Sadducees and Pharisees or did he call them the blind leading the blind?

We are all blind in varying degrees. The ultimate blindness is in one who assumes he or she is better able than others to recognize blindness and differentiate it from sight.

I agree with you... and the attitude of live and let live with respect is good advice - and not just in religion. I don't agree with your beliefs, but I am glad that you are interested in seeing people as individuals worthy of your respect. :)

"What on Earth am I here for?" a small booklet extracted from "The Purpose-Driven Life" really changed my thinking that life on earth is test to prepare us for eternity and our purpose in life is to glorify God.

When we are not happy on something, are we failing one of the tests?

One of the pastors said that we don't need to worry about defending our belief but let God himself do it, if not, we may burn ourselves.

God bless
