From what I know, men and women are equal in dignity but are not the same. Women can't be fathers, and men can't be mothers. That's just the way nature made us different. One is not better than the other, but we are different and should be happy with our differences and how we compliment each other.

A nun is called a "Sister" or a "Mother". I don't think it would be right to call a man by these titles.

A priest has no power of his own except whatever grace is given by God. He doesn't get any power from himself.

We know that Jesus (God in the flesh) appointed all males for the 12 Apostles (bishops). 12 Apostles for the 12 tribes of Israel which the 12 Apostles are to judge when Jesus comes back on a cloud of glory to judge all the living and all who have gone before us.

If anyone wants to be a priest to have more power, then they are wanting to be a priest for the wrong reasons. A good priest is a SERVANT OF GOD.

I agree. I don't think women should do everything a man does. I believe is capable of doing a lot of things. But a woman should be treated like a flower - delicate. and w/ respect. And no men should not be nuns.

I'm exactly the opposite of you.
I was posting the question on why a woman can't be a priest.
I understand that we are different, and since we weren't orn male we can't represent our God the father. But I think we should be more open, we are equal, it shouldn't have to do with what sex you are.
The reason I wish women could be priests is so they can say homilies and lead church. Priests can be a big influence, many people go to mass every week. They can paraphrase the reading and help say what it means in our lives today. I think it's sad that women aren't given that same chance. I'm not saying it's sexist, I just think it's time the Catholic church opens even more. At least recently the let girls be alter servers... but still
I do not want to be a priest so yes you can yell at me, but for some reason I want to see the Catholic church escaping long traditons, hopefully we keep most.
I still think priests should never marry and remain absent from sex and away from sin, but I def agree women should be allowed to be priests..
*** Also priests have such a big impact on people, and can become the Pope, they help guide people to great faithful lives. And guys already have something like a nun, you call them brothers, they are below priests.
God Bless, I hope we all figure this out soon..

you're changing the hierarchy with this question. a Nun doesnt 'run' a church. she doesnt run the typical mass. a nun is similar to a monk, not a Priest. a monk doesnt typically run a mass either.
I think that women should be allowed to be priests/pastors whatever because women are equal to men and if a man can be spoken to by god then so can a woman.
Men are allready granted all the 'rights'. but your question is mixing things around. you're asking basically, if women think that they should be able to be Kings (pretend for a moment that there isnt a ranking of queen) should men be able to be dutchesses?

1. Women were once the centre of societies in old pagan cultures based on fertility. They were also the keepers of knowledge and ruled the roost. The word "hag" used to mean women who practiced midwifery and used roots and herbs as medicine (they were scientists). The catholic crutch - oops, church - and most other young (less than 2500 year old) religions used violence ("witch! witch!") to take women's power away and make the world male-dominated.
2. Celibacy was enacted in the catholic cult - oops, church - because of nepotism. Too many families were passing on power and wealth from father to son and having concubines. The catholic celibacy rule was not "a gift from god".
3. Given that 99% of pedophiles are male (http://www.apa.org/) having female priests would certainly solve that problem.

That doesn't make any sense. Priests have more power and authority than nuns, sorry but that's the case. Women can't be Cardinals, Bishops, can't consecrate the elements. You can't weasel out of the Catholic theology about women, and that is that they are less than men.

Priests and nuns were made up by the catholic church to distinguish power.....(And before you say anything, I am a devout Catholic...) I agree 100% with you, we are equal in diginity, but without the woman there would be no man and without the man there would be no woman........The father and mother thing is a name we as humans created.....There is only one father- God the Father.........

Woman should be allowed to lead the church and be the religious and spiritual leader of a community of the faithful.
Men in the catholic faith may also be ordained as Monks and Brothers.
It is WAY past time that the catholics relinquish the male dominant role of their church. If they did, I may return and many others may as well.

Man and Woman have the same calling. Luke 4:18 has no gender specifics.
We are MINISTERS of Reconciliation. God uses anyone who is willing.
