I have a commercial certificate with IFR and Multi-engine ratings, however, I haven't flown in nearly 6 months. I've been looking in the FARs but I am not finding what I need. It's true what they say...you don't use it...you lose it. So after 90 days without 3 take-offs and landings...do I just need to take a proficiency check, and what does that consist of. Also, what FAR describes this?

It depends on whether you want to take a passenger with you or not. FAR 61.57 - no pilot may act as PIC of an aircraft CARRYING PASSENGERS unless that person has made at least 3 take-offs and landings within the preceeding 90 days - LEGALLY you don't need to do anything if you're flying solo, as long as you are current with your BFR and medical - if you want to carry a passenger you must have 3 take-offs and landings in the last 90 days - if you don't, you just do them solo then you're legal. But if you can't remember that, I'd seriously suggest that you do a Biennial Flight Review with an instructor - you've obviously forgotten too much! Also the Flight School you rent from might require a checkout every few months for insurance purposes. What that consists of depends entirely on the school in question, but usually just a check to see you're still up to the standards required by your licence.

If you have to ask this question with your ratings, I think it might be best to start flight training over! Sorry, but that's the truth, take it for what it's worth. This is something that should have been instilled in you from day one as a student pilot....!

Dude you need to get a refresher, due to your in activity. And you need to be reevaulated. A friendly advice as a fellow aviator, just keep em flying even get into the air once in a while.
