My arms and shoulders and chest mostly.
Sometimes it keeps me awake.
I have not had sex in years so it isn't something I could have picked up from someone.

Thank you soul doctor, I do like homeopathy and will try the remedy you mentioned. I have not used homeopathy for a long time but it does work like a miracle with the right remedy.
I have lots of other symptoms:
intense itching at night in my private area, nothing including lice medicine has helped it except shaving and keeping it shaved.
underactive thyroid-take synthoroid
bronchitis, chronic, couching mucous every day
mild rosacea, redness in face
daytime fatigue comes on the more I itch
jovial personality, enjoying food and cooking

I have had various problems such as yours and have taken several approaches.
1. Alergies: Do you have these problems every night when you go to bed or just when you are at home or your environment. I would start by sleeping somewhere else for a while and change your detergent. Try and remove all the things you ordinarily come in contact with to identify the source. Food alergies can also cause problems and it takes 5 days for foods to work through your system. I have gone on diets eating only brown rice and salad. It was very revealing.
2. If that doesn't work you may want to visit a homeopathic doctor. I have been using homeopathy for 15 years now and I can tell you it cures problems most physicians give you expensive prescriptions for which don't cure the problem. I don't recomend going it alone as sometimes it takes an objective outsider to identify your cure. Also if you have had this problem a while you should use a homeopathy to get you the high potentcies you need to dislodge a longterm problem. If you do decide to do it yourself with homeopathy I suggest you identify your cure on http://www.abchomeopathy.com/ then look it up on http://homeoint.org/books/boericmm/index.htm. Sit on it a few days and then revisit your assessment.
3. Go to a physician. I only go to physicians to determine if my life is in danger. In this case this is my last choice.

Do you take a shower before you go to bed - my guess is that you do. It could simply be that your skin is very dry (some areas more than others, which explains why your chest, arms and shoulders itch most). So, it may simply be the soap that you use irritating your skin, or the fact that it has become dry if you did not apply some type of moisture to it. Further, it could also be the material you use to wash up, like a scrungie - it could also be how hard your scrub certain areas. If I were you, do a trial and error - stop using your certain type of soap and observe the reaction, or always use a moisturizer afterwards and see if you still itch. Nine times out of ten it is something that I mentioned. You could also have a rash from one of the things I mentioned. Don't worry - I went through this same thing and found that I did not use moisturizer enough after showering. As for my boyfriend - scrungies irritated his skin. It is not sexual thing, I am certain of that.

Homeopathy :-
If your itching starts at about midnight the remedy ARSENICUM ALBUM 30 thrice a day half hour before meals will cure your itching once and for all. If you can post more details about the accompanying symptoms it would be helpful in finding the correct medicine for you.
Homeopathy treats the person not the disease or disorder so your personal symptoms are all important in curing any sort of discomfiture or sickness you are going through!
Take Care and God Bless !

Are there any new products you have started using? maybe cut them out and see wether you itch or not. Maybe you'r are allergic to the bed sheets, making your skin irritable. If in a week you still haven't figured it out, then go to the doctor. Things like these could be symptoms of larger problems. Do you have a skin rash? Try wearing lotions, or milk baths. As i said, inquire with a doctor...

I think ghosts are your problem. They can be a skin irritant and they are also jerks. They're probably having a great time looking at your unused (and thus, presumably, pristine) privates without giving a thought to your troubles. I suggest dipping the entire affected area in holy water. The burning will subside after a few moments.

what is your routine in getting ready for bed---this should be the focus of your investigations--there is a good chance that something you are doing---application of creams / powders /soaps etc or something you are ingesting ---drinks/ pastries/ etc---is at the heart of this--because it sounds like a reaction response to some thing--any thing you can think of that you have added to your bed time routine just before this all started would be the first thought here

My guess would be either you are allergic to the sheets and bedding you use, OR you are allergic to the detergent you are using. I would recommend changing one of these at a time to determine which one it is. Also, wash bedding often to prevent that type of thing from happening again.

A good question......many possible answers...
I use to do this a lot for a few years. Solution..Not sure if I needed to change my soap when I bathed, or my shampoo, or my detergent. Maybe I needed to apply lotion after my shower. I even thought it was my nerves....Then I thought it was my bodies way of destressing from my day....that tingling feeling drove me nuts...I have it sometimes, not as often..I do all the above from time to time.

Try taking a bath with some mineral salt or something before bed.
