Whatever none of you can get it... By using a magnifying glass and the sun's rays you could burn through the string and consequently cause the ring to drop to the bottom of the bottle.

well u need a maginifying glass and the suns rays place the magnifing glass to where the sun can hit the magnifing glass and hit the cork this will cause the cork to burn and drop the metal ring to the bottom without u touching the bottle string or cork

Actually, all of you are wrong even though you copied the person who wrote the riddle. If you used a magnifying glass to try to burn the string/thread inside, the glass of the bottle would disperse the sunlight and the string/thread would not be burned.

heat the bottom of the bottle- the air inside will expand- the cork will pop out , the string comes loose and the ring falls to the bottom of the bottle

If you poured acid on it, it would seep through the cork and melt the string, but then you might lose the integrity of the ring because acid corodes metal, but this idea is better than the magnifying glass, because anyone who's taken high school physics would know that.

Get a gun ,and blow that sucker to pieces, and maybe the ring will touch the bottom of the bottle, if it isn't in too small pieces
