Yes and no. It is not magic. Mormons consider it supernatural. They wear sacred undergarments as a shield and a protection to the wearer from the power of the destroyer. It is a light white undergarment. It is worn under everything else, including bras etc. It is usually only taken off for sex and bathing.
The garment is kind of a talisman, or I should say the symbols are. There is a square over one breast and a compass over the other breast. The same symbols are on the naval and right knee. The symbols come from the Masons, which the founder of Mormonism belonged.

I'm not mormon, but I saw these underthings on the neighbor's clothesline when I lived in Samoa.
Here is another web link where you can read about them and see sketches of the "evolution" of mormon underwear.
A quote from the page:
"The Garment of Holy Priesthood (Garment, Regulation Garment, Temple Garment) is distinguished as the only article of Temple clothing members are expected to wear outside the Temple confines. It represents the garment given to Adam when he was found naked in the garden of Eden. It is an undergarment with religious significance and has four symbols known as the "Marks of the Holy Priesthood" sewn into it. Over the left breast is "the mark of the compass"; over the right breast is "the mark of the square"; over the navel is a mark, and another appears over the right knee (the latter two are one-inch horizontal lines). These marks remind the wearer of the covenants assumed in the temple ritual. There are currently a variety of Church-approved Garment styles available for wear (manufactured by the LDS-owned Beehive Clothing Mills). Garments are currently available in one-piece (ankle-length, long sleeve; ankle-length, short sleeve; button front; knee-length, short sleeve) and two-piece styles, some of which are available in square back, V-back, crew neck, maternity and nursing varieties. They may be made of cotton, polyester, nylon, nylon-mesh, rayon and/or rayon-nylon (Bemberg) fabrics. Early Garments were reportedly made of unbleached muslin and/or cotton."
Imagine wearing THAT in 90 degree heat and 99% humidity....

The Garments of the Holy Priesthood
By Bill McKeever
Following the washing and anointing ceremonies in the LDS temple ceremony, the patron is then assisted in putting on the "Garment of the Holy Priesthood." Originally this garment closely resembled a pair of long underwear and was only available in a one-piece style. Today, however; some temple Mormons choose to wear a modified two-piece version. Unique to this garment are markings sewn into them which are similar to those used in Freemasonry. Over the right breast is a buttonhole which resembles a "square" (looks like a backward L); over the left breast is a "compass" (resembling a capital V). Sewn into the abdomen and knee area is another marking which looks like an ordinary button-hole.
During their pre-endowment instructions, participants are told that if they are true and faithful to the covenants they will make in the ceremony, their "Garment of the Holy Priesthood "will be a shield, and a protection to you against the power of the destroyer until you have finished your work here on earth." Temple Mormons are also told that this garment must be worn throughout their lives and represents the garment given to Adam in the Garden of Eden.

To members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the temple garment represents the sacred and personal aspects of their relationship with God. For this reason, Church members do not discuss the garment in a casual or disrespectful manner

After I stopped laughing, I decided to answer this question with a resounding YES!!!!!!!!! It is no longer all one piece..they came around to the new style about 20 years ago and are two pieces now...whoopee! I USED to be a moron..oops did I say that? I mean Mormon, and it was not by my choice. I left the misogynist of a spouse and the fairy tale of Joseph Smith (or as I like to say..Joseph's myth!), far, far behind . There's a lot of weirdness associated with the "temple garments" as the underwear is called. You don't even want to get into it, I promise.

I would not call them magic, but yes, they do have a special garment that is considered important to the religion. They receive it after a certain period of time and is a ceremony to receive them. I don't agree with it, I just know if it's existence. Good luck!!

I'm Mormon. I wear them. They are not magic. they are not over sized. They are not funny. Do you get naked to go to the toilet or do you only bare what you need to, to go? That's all I do. I take them off to bathe. I take them off to swim. I take them off for sex. I take them off for whatever reason you would take off your underclothes. Yes, they are special. We are a covenant people. They represent covenants that we make with God in holy places. Covenants that Christ himself introduced to the world. For you to mock them, is to mock God.
