Hey, we are. We've lost are grip on the english language, our students are failing, and the law of entropy is firmly in place.

Your question in my opinion sounds like your eyes are starting to be opened to the reality of things. I only hope in this opening you do see a division in the word "we" you did use.
In my opinion only there are two "we"'s. One group of "we" are those who ate going on the one way street to devolution. The other group of "we" are in the group on the one way street to evolution in your word usage. I do not like that word evolution thus I would say evolving or improving as they are made better by the controller. I can accept your word if it does mean not an automatic evolving but a change in direction after an election of an option.
The words are not so important for now, besides this is only an exchange of ideas and not a training class. I am just happy you did ask the question and hope you do have a good day. It gave me an opportunity to state my view with a smile. Thank you.

The only thing devlving about us is our attention spans. Those of us that still have the ability to focus can and do achieve great things. For instance, my sister and myself both scored phenominally higher on standardized tests than both of our parents. By eigth grade, my father was unable to help me with my homework.
I think this growing "stupidity epidemic" in America is a result not of genetics, but of environment. Kids don't care about learning. Nothing new there. Parents don't care that their kids don't care. There seems to be a problem there.

I do think so, when you consider, that Adam lived over 900 years and those after him lived hundreds of years it shows that we are getting worse, not better and, yet, they say that today we live longer than ever, wow, how can that be said?I see young Children dying from cancer, strokes, lukemia, and all sorts of things when even a few decades ago these things did not go on!
But that is just one aspect!

actually, no. You are comparing people of today with what you consider the first people. Yet did not compare the people of today to those living in the middle ages. It fluctuates according to the lifestyles in society and how well hygiene is in that society.
A simple search in history will show you this.
