I had a pinched nerve that caused numbness. There was a numb spot on my back about the size of a hand.

Does your numbness corespond to any of the vertebre and nerves shown? Mine did. My chiropractor fixed this for me very quickly. Now I'm completely better, and the feeling is back to normal

i dont know what you do for a living but i am a truck driver. i use to have the worst pains in my back and i thought it was from all the sitting and driving. come to find out it was from carrying a wallet in my pocket when i was driving. that thin wallet i say thin cause i never have any money in it was just enough to set my hips off balance cause i didn't have one in each of my back pockets.
the result was a pinched nerve. no one would ever think something so small would be the result of the pains i experienced. my point to you is that you may have a pinced nerve and when it come to any part of your back you should consult a chiropracter. or go to a spa and ask for someone who specializes in therapetic massage but make sure it's a liscence day spa cause different people have certificates in different type of massage and you will be surprised how a session in a liscenced day spa might make for you. my back has never given me another problem since i stopped carrying a wallet and started treating myself to a day at the spa a couple times a month. if you are married or have a girlfriend take them with you so they want get jealous. good luck and god bless

I had the same thing after a bad case of tennis elbow.
My whole arm from the mid back to my fingers would go to sleep. Not that tingly feeling you get. just dead and numb.
Went to the Chiropractor. 3 visits and I feel great.
He gave me an exercise to do.
Hold a golf club or a broom stick or something like that in both hands over your head.
Now bring it down behind your head.
back up again.
Do that for 5 minutes twice a day and also see a good chiropractor.
Good luck.

I recommend seeing a massage therapist it could be a nerve encroachment, a tight musle a trigger point which would require NMT, or a number of other things stay away from muscle relaxers you could make it worse when you can't feel it
