I think we would still want our government compared to Mexico's so their is out. They have rich untapped resources we could use. Our laws. We despite "some opinions" do not have enough land now to feed all the people if we had to grow are own too to be self reliant. Ask a farmer. If we were careful we would not get in that position again.
We don't dislike the people.
Just looking what would be drawbacks? Any brains out there like to speculate?

mendi, mendi, mendi-believe it or not all land is not suitable for farming. We do -Not have enough to Feed all (everyday-animals need land-we need milk and meat) It would be hard to feed just the cities alone-everyday--. Are you just picking or do you believe that. This time it is on you-show me the statistics that says we have plenty-my farm books don't say that,

mendi-do you just pick the conficting reports or do you read it all? Some figures by Builders-RealEstate-Goverment fudge their reports (they don't count land loss -like in unemployement its only part true if you add all the factors-they change-that same report you have if you go futher has much more to say.

The economic reasons alone would be enough to kill that idea.
Mexico's economy, though doing better in recent years is still really bad. They do have many resources such as oil, but they belong to the Federal Governement and the revenues from selling Pemex Gasoline is to find government programs.
The poverty level in Mexico is still high, and by annexing them, that would make them elligible for social services, which would become a tremendous crippling drain on the American economy, which is already in trouble.
Besides, that's not even touching that social aspects of it.
Americans still think too highly of themselves in the world, and scoff at the reality that learning a little bit of spanish wouldn't hurt, and the Mexicans are far too proud as a people to simply be "dominated" by the Americans.

I dont forsee it happening, but IF it did, have you ever been to Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico? These places have a lot of empty land. Plus Have you ever been to Mexico? It does as well. I dont see us ever running out of land. Most Mexicans are very self reliable and most can grow food. I think we will be fine.

There is such a thing as American Culture i.e. truth, justice and the American way!". i personally would not like to live in Mexico...there's not place like home and my home is USA.
