Where did this representation of absoutlness come from in the spiritual world? and is it god? If so, why don't people say God, versus the universe. I know the question may seem stupid, but I don't really need stupid answers. Thanks

My concept of God is that God is kind of like a diamond, with millions of facets. Each facet can have a million facets within it. Each side of the diamond represents a religion. When people turn to God, they find the facet that they resonate with the best. Some people resonate with Christianity; others resonate with Judaism; still others resonate with Buddhism, and so on.

In the Christian facet, the one that represents all the faiths that follow Jesus Christ, I see that facet as a dark one. It started out bright, bright and glistening, but over time, the dark deeds of the followers of Christ have darkened the facet, warping it into something almost unrecognizable. This is why I don't follow the Christian faith--I believe it to be tainted. That's why I don't refer to the ruler of the Universe as "God." The word has a Christian connotation.

I searched out many many religions in my spiritual travels. That's how I came up with my idea about the diamond as a good working model. Since the diamond encompasses all faiths that are, ever were, or ever will be, that diamond must be huge beyond compare. The only thing as huge as the diamond would be the Universe, with its vast complexity and mystery. That's why I see "absoluteness" in the Universe--because the Universe holds absolute mystery, absolute unknown.

In this sense, "Universe" is another word for "God". People often substitute another word for "God", because they might have had very strict religious upbringing, and/or began questioning the crazy "rules" of the Old Testament god.

"Universe" is also used in metaphysics, or New Thought (not to be confused with New Age). It is simply another way of speaking about the same thing.

There is no difference between the "spiritual world" and this one. Life is life. Whatever "God" actually is, that Reality is All-In-All; God is All That Is, but the mistake people make is in thinking this means God must be all the bad things as well, but the bad things are illusion, which came to "be" when we chose to "live" as apart from our Creator.

Well if you believe the Bible, the very first verse says "In the beginning God.... So before there was anything, before He created anything God was here. The universe is not God. The universe is what God created.

Many pray this when they want to believe in a greater power but have a personal hangup about the traditional understanding of "God".
It is their own little mid point in spirituality between atheism and some sort of "traditional" faith
